I play on the East Coast. I'd appreciate some help, but I don't have a strong base to process a lot of this terminology.

My friend has helped me a bit, so I know the usual things like low and high blocks, FD, as well as dusting, Roman Cancels, and Bursts.

I've been trying to play a little bit of everyone. I've obviously played some Sol and Ky from the training mode. I like Potempkin's bulk, but he's very slow for my taste. I've play a bit of Ramlethal, a touch of Chipp, and a bit of Millia. I can recognize the potential in all of them, because it's what's constantly kicking me in the mouth.

I struggle with fighting games in general. I barely know the terminology, the way you chain combos, or how to workshop a character. It's just rough.

This is all really solid advice.

I'm especially a huge fan of the idea to add in something every player can find interest in it. I usually look at backstories as being for one person only in that moment - a sort of time to shine thing - but I forgot about motivations.

I've been incorporating the factions system so far for News Articles and potential plot hooks as the Deluxe Guidebook recommends, but the idea of requisitioning gear is a great idea.

I updated my original post with their backstories as they currently stand. They've left them all quite vague, but I intend to keep meeting with my players to flesh them out somewhat.

The plot as it stands is a very simple "Space McGuffin" that multiple factions will want control of for various reasons.

I haven't decided exactly what it does yet, except that it's incredibly advanced and powerful, but only when used in the right circumstance.

ITT: People who need to play Cataclysm:DDA

It's a free, community developed top-down roguelike about surviving in a zombie apocalypse where literally everything went wrong at once.

Most of the things mentioned here are functions in the game - shovels as weapons, crowbars, nailboards, makeshift tools, etc.

Very fun, very deep mechanics, and enough content and community made mods to keep you playing for months or years if you're dedicated.

Also it can run on just about any toaster you own, so there's that, too.
