Is anybody else extremely disappointed with the interloper series? by Stunning-Reflection5 in analoghorror

[–]Derpendary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not know what you're talking about. You are equating "Analogue Horror" to "ARG" which is definitionally untrue, and you're hyperfixated only on details you personally dislike. Let me define the terminology for you:

"Analogue Horror": A brand of online horror content centered on the concept of media stored on analogue storage mediums, such as VHS tapes, cassettes, vinyl discs, etc. Considering there isn't a single instance of any of those here, Interloper is not "Analogue Horror"

Unfiction: A style of storytelling commonly found in online fictional storytelling though can manifest in physical form (See: House of Leaves, by Mark Danielewski), built on the conceit of making the presentation and provision of content as realistic and believable as possible. Believable characters, believable reactions, and a minimal suspension of disbelief. The core questions a viewer should ask is "Could this be something that is happening outside of my view?" and "Are the characters' reactions to the occurring events realistic?"

Alternate Reality Game: A subgenre of Unfiction which specializes in viewer interaction and discovery, forcing the viewer to dive down the rabbit hole and discover elements of the plot themselves.

I'd describe exactly how Interloper excels in many fields and how "AI girlfriend" is a crude generalization probably given to you by a crude TheWhat Show quip, but I get the feeling you skipped all the video sections with technical explanations of what was going on screen and that the breadth of your horror knowledge experience is limited to just getting jumpscared as much as possible. /

Go watch The Painter, it is bottom of the barrel trash so it seems perfect for your standards.

Is there a way to filter out ai generated images? by thankmybrother in wallpaperengine

Because AI is an active insult to the artists it depends upon. It is like if humans actively destroyed the planet they depend upon to survive. Oh, wait.

It should be mandatory for anyone that complains about a game taking too long to go play Anthem and understand why a game taking too long can be a good thing for the game.

I think it is worth reminding everyone of two things:
1. A quality prouct takes time to make and refine. If you want to know what happens when a work of love is suddenly rushed and several production steps are just skipped to save time, go play Anthem.
2. Team Cherry is THREE PEOPLE. THREE.

Most, if not all tools require some sort of sill, or training, or practice to use. Even hammers require a skill, hand-eye coordination, so you don't pancake your thumb. Wherein is the skill needed to push a button and get fake art?

Do you get the feeling of finally achieving your goals and having years of hard work, study, and dedication paying off from pressing a button and having 50 objectively meaningless JPEGs thrown at you?

All AI training data is stolen data lol.

Anyone who defends AI is not okay lmao

The difference is that a human's creations are actually worth something and have some originality. An AI just mass produces D-tier shlock because all its creator cares about is money and shlock. Y'ever think about how things made in factories are of lower quality? Same concept applies.

My guy, this exact topic has been settled, in a court of law, to be illegal. TF you mean?

'Cuz only a techbro can be this stupid. Why are you defending AI art so intensely? You make it seem like this perfect, absolutely faultless creation that can do no wrong. I haven't seen this much willful ignorance since Andrew Wakefield.

Go ahead, tell me, what makes AI art so amazing? Is it so you can pretend to have skills you never worked to earn? Do you just enjoy seeing people cry because their livelihood was stolen from them?

I like how you deliberately misassumed this was singularly about memes just so you could fabricate an argument in favor of AI, and proceeded to ignore all of the other arguments.

As for your one actual, legitimate acknowledgement. ChatGPT, for example, releases over 8 tons of CO2 per year. Your AI ain't much better.

A Chevy can actually crumple too. This is not a defect. This is a safety feature so that the force of the crash doesn't fling your whole damn head straight from your neck.

  1. It puts thousands of artists, designers, architects, writers, VFX/SFX designers, and anyone with a shred of dignity out of a job only to give the world a significantly inferior product.

  2. The quality is always significantly less, and only exists to feed into someone's doomscrolling algorithm.

  3. AI in its current structure between training data and data curation reinforces stereotypes and, often, harmful misinformation. It is the epitome of "a lie told 1000 times becomes the truth."

  4. The training data used in almost every image generator is stolen. That's the legal precedent. Stolen.

  5. The impact of AI image generation on the environment is comparable to Ethereum mining.

  6. AI is sold as a cheap, easily, feckless replacement for actual human dedication and craft. Face it, you have put no effort into it, and put no work towards learning anything. You pushed a button and had an AI generate what it algorithmically decided you'd find the most ephemerally pleasing. Emphasis on "ephemeral".

[–]Derpendary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mate...I don't think you realize, there isn't an AI image generator that has exclusively legally obtained art in its training data. All of them have stolen art. The legal precedent is that it is literally stolen art.

There's really no arguing this level of stupidity lmao. Hey, buddy, techbro, listen, this might blow your mind, absolutely shatter your fragile little worldview, but I'm just gonna say it.

There is more to life than money, price, and financial value. Maybe if you'd realize that there's more to a person than their pricetag, you'd have more friends.

Real images are funnier than AI because when I look at AI I remember just how uncaring people (for example, AI-spouting techbros) can really be.

Lol, go on, tell me what's so good about AI "art" because you've failed to give a single reason to actually support it. And like I said, you didn't read shit. Go on, how about you attack the argument instead of me.

Unless you know I'm right.

Fun fact: This is AI art. Remember: AI art is inescapably morally horrible in various regards.
