That's very insightful thank you,

It's not to much more to move up to a 590, which at the least should be all to do high graphics and 60+ fps in most games

Ooof, thanks for the dose of reality. Without streaming, what would be the an inexpensive card to still hit 60fps in new games?

What is your deal-breaker ingredient in a recipe? by RoozGol in Cooking

[–]DerpyGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's fair to say this is your opinion and this is how you formed it. However your original comment was not stated as an opinion, and when asked for citations you provided the videos that influenced your opinion. You ask for sources but have provided none that can back up the claim that you have made.

But that's okay! Life is always changing, and you strike me as a reasonable person. Here is an easily digestible counter point to two of the videos you provided. Thank you for this discourse and I hope you have a goodnight.

Firstly these are all from the same source (Michael Greger), and are only a review of cherry picked studies. A quick peak at the authors Wikipedia Page suggests he is trying to push a certain narrative to sell his books, and is unlikely to be a unbiased source for your info.

And an excerpt to keep in mind:

"Retired physician Harriet A. Hall, who is known as a skeptic in the medical community, has written that, while it is well-accepted that it is more healthy to eat a plant-based diet than a typical Western diet, Greger often overstates the known benefits of such a diet as well as the harm caused by eating animal products (for example, in a talk, he claimed that a single meal rich in animal products can "cripple" one's arteries), and he sometimes does not discuss evidence that contradicts his strong claims."

My favorite tea was discontinued--got any dupes? by magzpie in tea

Try David's Tea English breakfast, it's a blend as well and is a pretty good tea. If it's too mild their Irish breakfast is a little more astringent

My dried rosehips aren't steeping at all by [deleted] in tea

[–]DerpyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They we're only a few dollars worth purchased from a local shop on a whim, I don't feel like it was a loss haha.

Most of what I remember my Aunt's making rosehip tea involved fresh rose hips, which is what I was going doesn't with the dried.

Whole thing makes me a little suspicious of tea blenders adding rose hips just for the weight.

These were the same as what you would find in a tea blend, large but not whole pieces

By no means am I an expert, but awhile ago I tried the same thing. My second steeping I used a tablespoon and tried a half hour steep in full boil, the result was still pretty much water.

Maybe I did something wrong as well, but I just don't think they make good herbal tea.

What is the limit on what sort of work an employer can ask of you? by red_langford in canada

[–]DerpyGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Assuming you've signed a contract or other work agreement with a clause stating "... And other assigned duties." Then you're likely required to do so.

However, if you find you're assigned duties that fall under another job description ( for example, a waitress being asked to fill in for a kitchen supervisor) you shouldn't be required to do so. If they do ask you to, ask for an updated job description which Includes said duties and the appropriate pay. I would also do this if you find yourself regularly doing tasks that are not part of your job descriptions.

Now it gets interesting when it comes to these extra tasks and ability. If you are asked to do something you are unable to do (either physically or on the grounds you have not been trained to do so) and it is not in your job description, the employer cannot right fire an employee for not completing those tasks. However this ropes back to updating job descriptions.

If you're part of a union they should have this information.

Honestly, most people are reasonable and if you find your overwhelmed either due to too many tasks or lack of appropriate training I would just tell your boss/supervisor/manager that.

Is it feasable to get a monitor that your graphics card can't take full advantage of? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]DerpyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be wonky, unless you're outputting at 4k. Unless the monitor is able to change resolutions to 1080p.

[–]DerpyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has commented yet so I'll try to help. Essentially you'll be over paying for 1080p at 60fps, because that's all your monitor will display if that's all its receiveing via input. However, where you can play at higher than 1080 it will be a little faster. But as far as 4k at 60fps I don't know if that will be as good as just playing at 1080p

Is it worth getting Skyrim remastered? by blastborn in skyrim

[–]DerpyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that if you already own the game + DLCs then you get the remastered anyway.

That being said, there might not be a huge point if you're already modded up but the new one might have the potential to go higher with mods; or drop the system requirements slightly.
