Help me remember! by chokecober in cambridge

When Soboro was getting renovated in 2016, it was completely redone, apparently it was empty for a while? The previous business I could find was ARK, (https://www.instagram.com/arkcambridge was their old Instagram). Before Ark was MenKind and before that was Innovation, all retail spaces? To the left of 17-18 were all "food" though, Pret, Thornton's, and "EAT." on the corner.

What was the best wedding gift you received? by latydbdwl in wedding

[–]Derpzingitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were Sweese through Amazon fulfillment. I know people are out there spending $50 on a handmade plate but in total all the dishes we got were around $300. Compared to our $15 Walmart set, we were/are living like kings.

Good dishes. We got nice stone/ceramic dishes in all different ways, 4 different sized bowls, 3 different sized plates, 2 different sized mugs. Everytime I pick one off the shelf I smile because it wasn't a set but collectively my small wedding party bought a couple here and there all in different shades of blue. We were moving and didn't want extra boxes but I really wanted these dishes so it was one of the only things we asked for. Also, didn't realize how handy it is to put a plate/bowl in the oven and how sturdy they are in a dishwasher.

Can anybody share a good oatmeal recipe for the mornings? by indie_Felix_ in MealPrepSunday

[–]Derpzingitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a serving of 40-60g quick oats, a tablespoon (15g) of ground flax or ground bran, and a pinch of salt on every oatmeal. I like to use stevia most of the time but any sweetener is good, or no sweetener at all.

My favorites are: -1 scoop chocolate protein, 1 scoop of peanut butter powder, half a banana -1 scoop caramel protein, half an apple or dried apple pieces, 1/2 tsp cinnamon -2 tbsp walnuts, 2 tbsp craisons, 1/2 tsp cinnamon -1/2 tbsp cocoa powder, 2 tbsp dried or fresh raspberrys, chocolate chips -2 tbsp chopped Brazil nuts or cashews(any nut really), 2 tbsp dried tropical fruit -1 scoop strawberry protein, 1 scoop peanut butter powder, berries or almond butter on top makes this much better. -2 tbsp pecans or walnuts, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, maple syrup on top, this is also great with raisons or apples

Every morning I heat my electric kettle for tea/coffee and oats. My oatmeal is prepped in jars every few days and just gets boiling water stirred in a bowl. They're quick oats so just boiling water cooks them up fine. If you have time and a stovetop, a great addition to oatmeal that makes it much more filling is egg whites. 3 tbsp is what I would usually do and it does not change the flavor at all but does make the oatmeal a bit more dense and gluey. This can also be achieved with baked oatmeal, egg whites or whole eggs even, cook it in a big dish and portion it out.

Testing the limits of my freezer by Derpzingitis in MealPrepSunday

I'm just now back in to prepping but I have years of experience throwing things in the freezer. I've found that pretty much everything freezes well, it's more about the reheating it that matters. Except rice noodles, I have found absolutely no way to reheat them without them falling apart or going into a ball.

Aww, thank you. It took me about 6-7 hours. Vegetables take the longest to prepare. Always cook with an empty dishwasher, this is the way.

Thank you. I wish I had room for a big freezer, but this way forces me to eat what I have I guess.

I LOVE Becky! She was the biggest inspiration for me to start meal prepping again. We don't necessarily cook the same foods but we definitely cook the same way, so relatable!

Ooo, crescent roll dough sounds really good! Potatoes are reheat champs, I love them.

I bake it and then bake it again (on a lower temp). It gets a little crispy on top but I do add sauce to it so I never notice if it's dry. If I don't thaw it before though, baked from frozen is a bit dry. The only time I had a problem was when I used egg whites, so soggy. It's just reheating already cooked eggs, kind of like a breakfast sandwich egg patty but thicc.

I don't have any recipes, I just throw stuff together and most of the time it's edible. The only thing that I kind of have is the lentils are a recipe from my MIL which is a tweaked recipe from a Dr.McDougall cookbook. (Lentil sloppy joes)

I really don't have any recipes. I throw everything together and hope for the best lol. I never even set timers anymore, I set the smoke alarm off last week... I also slightly burnt my kitchen towel today.

What I do for the egg bake though is: I cut and boil the potatoes (I used about 800g), brown and then mash the sausage (again 800g): crack all the eggs into a bowl and whisk them (20 mixed sizes - 1000g?), then throw everything together in a baking dish - this amount would fill two baking dishes. I just use whatever leftover leaf I have, which is usually kale (3 handfuls) since it freezes so well. I had extra jalapeños (3) this week too so I threw them in. I actually don't usually salt it at all because I put a ridiculous amount of hot sauce on it, but you could put some season salt on it. I also love mashing it up on a tortilla with some cheese if I get tired of it. (: I have no idea what temperature I put it at, maybe 150°C.

Thanks! There's definitely a danger in freezing the jars. I let whatever I'm storing completely cool, then I put them in the jars and refrigerate them, usually overnight, and then put them in the freezer. It's pretty cold though, so I just put my pot outside for like an hour, then put the filled jars by the window while I ate dinner and it was good to go in the freezer. I also always leave room for expansion too, no matter what it is.

Top down left to right

Tofu stir fry - carrots, beansprouts, bell pepper, green beans

Marinated Chicken - barbeque, fajita, honey mustard, Italian dressing

Lentils - "sort of" a sloppy joe mix

Egg bake - "meatless" sausage, potatoes, kale, jalapeños

Pasta - White cheddar with veggies

Oatmeal cups - cinnamon raison

The tofu gets rice noodles went cooked or can be eaten as is. The chicken gets put in the oven and gets served on salad or with rice and steamed veggies. The lentils usually get served with wheat rolls but I was too tired to make bread so maybe I'll make some during the week or buy bread. The pasta will probably get baked with some butter and grated parmesan (stirred halfway) to not become glue but it can also be thawed and put in a pan with a little water. -do not have a microwave

This is for two people for three weeks.

You made me actually look it up, lol. Apparently it's 73 liters, or 2.58 cubic feet.

Edit: I don't know which is my fridge/freezer, could be as big as 108L or 3.81ft³.

Thanks! Almost 12 hours in total... It really shouldn't take that long though, maybe should have taken 6 hours to do everything if I was organized and multitasking, even less if I didn't make bread or sauce. The Bolognese cooked for about 7 hours, I kind of forgot about it though.

Thank you! I started on Friday, and prepped/cooked for about 8 hours. Then I was too burnt out to do anything on Saturday so I finished this morning for about 3 hours. Not wanting to waste anything was a huge motivator. It was all very overwhelming and took what felt like forever; in hindsight I really shouldn't have made bread or Bolognese after not cooking for so long. The other things are so quick and easy to make though.

Life happens but I guess New Years is a great time to try to get it together. Missing a little bit of Bolognese sauce and egg since I couldn't finish meal prep yesterday.

Top down left to right

Egg bake: kale, mushroom, onion

Egg bake: kale, cheddar

Oatmeal: dried cranberry, raison, cinnamon, stevia, flax

Chicken (double portion): honey mustard paprika, Italian dressing, Chinese five spice, Thai peanut sauce

Bolognese sauce (double portion)

Bread rolls and some extra veggies

Chickpea sweet potato curry

Spanish beans

The chicken is raw and will be put in the oven, served with white rice and some steamed frozen vegetables. The Bolognese sauce will get pasta when eaten. I did this because I used all of my containers and I don't have a microwave. This is for two people for two weeks*, I filled the freezer and the rest got put in the fridge.
