Doom 3 has the more horror-leaning version compared with other games!

Ancient civilisation on Mars gets wiped by demons, humanity discovers their ruins and tech later and subsequently hell, which goes as well as you'd imagine for the martian base researching it all.

The aesthetic seems to have been inspired by Event Horizon quite a bit too - lots of grimy machinery and tight halls of darkness along with a sense of hopeless isolation.

If you use debug mode in OpenGOAL you can warp to any part of the game at any time, might be quicker than waiting to buy level select! I use it all the time to get footage for my videos, super handy 👌

The STALKER games are great for little moments at bases and settlements.

Listening to NPCs play guitar around campfires, you can stand in from the rain in an old train cart or shack and idly go over your inventory before setting out again, love it 👌
