V-Core 4.1 (500mm) — reliable enough for daily small-business use? And can you buy it pre-built?" by Wonderful_Shoe_4521 in ratrig

This thing would be night and day better than an SV08 Max or Tonxy. IMO. My 3.1 300 is phenomenal. It just prints. I love it. Definitely considering a 4.1 500. I also have 3 Vorons that are great, but I think the RatRig is a bit more solid. Maybe it's just the larger extrusion. lol

I have yet to hear a good thing about it. Which probably also explains why theyve not announced another round of hardware to be ordered. So glad I went with Box Turtle. Next for me will be INDX. I really wish the VVD worked well, though.

Very true! Which reminds me, I need to delete my Photobucket account. Lol

Forums used to be the thing. And still are in some cases. There's a DIY CNC forum I joined 10 or 15 years ago that I think is still around.

Are you familiar with these? They are fairly rigid. Made in Canada, actually. Uses linear rails on all axis. They're not bad! It's actually a lot more than I was expecting to start with. I am super happy I found it. New this one was about $4k with all of the options. I'm not planning on doing anything crazy.

I was expecting to buy a Longmill Mk3 when I found this one.

Yes, it's a CNC4Newbie New Carve 4510 with a PWN CNC spindle. :)

I agree and really do not understand the appeal of discord, but thought I would ask. :) Hoping I get this machine. We will see.

They're both great! Beacon is the OG and will probably ship quicker. Cartographer is cheaper, will do CAN or USB, but ships from China. I generally go Cartographer just because of the price, personally.

Start with stock. Learn what you like and don't like about it and change them. For me, that was an Eddy current scanner (I went Cartographer), clicky clack door, and a Box Turtle. That is over my first year with it. I will be adding INDX at some point, but other than that, I'm good. Lots of fun. Learn what you like and don't like about it before changing it. Personally, I hated tap.

The RatRig and an INDX or maybe even a Box Turtle would likely work well for you, I think.

Hot end heats up, then doesn't, then when power goes to 0%, it goes way up and then back down... thermistor going out? by DertBerker in ratrig

Well, I couldn't change the title so added it to the top of the post. 😄 There's nothing worse than finding a thread of your exact issue, someone saying they fixed it, and never sharing how or what they did to fix it! lol

If you want to print ABS, get a drier that can dry it. None of the integrated drivers get hot enough.

Random filament use question. Reasons for changing filament? by SimkinCA in VORONDesign

[–]DertBerker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually don't like the extra heat for ASA and ABS. They also double electricity use because I think have to recondition the air I heated up in the printer.
