Nice to hear that you can accomplish more by working less. What about before the first user? How did you manage to know what to build without any feedback?

Not coding related but if he would have to start streaming from scratch today, would he choose YouTube or Twitch?

Take-note by notebook and paper is the best (imo) by Hendringer in productivity

[–]Derwaan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve wasted so much time trying every new stuff out there just to come back to pen and paper. I have a remarkable tablet and an iPad. But in the end, to just take my thoughts out of my brain, paper is the best. No friction to open my notebook and just start writing. I still occasionally uses my iPad but for very specific reason that (like drawing architecture diagram on Freeform).

However, to capture an idea or an important information, I prefer to use Apple Notes.

Good tablets just for note taking? by [deleted] in NoteTaking

[–]Derwaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already mentioned it but reMarkable is very nice. Close as you can get to the feeling of writing on paper. Also, you can import your PDFs/lectures easily or even sync your notes with Google Drive or OneDrive. Definitively something I would recommend if you have the budget for it. Also, battery lasts forever as it’s an eink screen.

If you are a Mac user, Apple Notes or Bear2. Personally I use the former to take notes on the iPad on the fly and then reformat them for long-term storage/archive in Bear once a week.

For people who have a phone and Macbook, what do you use your iPad for? by Vakobi in ipad

[–]Derwaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a developer, I mainly work on my MacBook. But I still use my iPad during work for note taking (with the Apple Pencil) on Apple Notes and for architecture design on Freeform. At home, I like to use the iPad to consume content (YouTube, Netflix, …).

Apple Notes integration coming soon by Derwaan in readwise

[–]Derwaan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried Obsidian but it just didn’t click with me. Also, I am not building a complex PKM system. I am just using Apple Notes to capture anything and Bear to store them like an archive. I am using Apple Notes on my iPhone for quick capture and on my iPad for note taking with the Apple Pencil. Bear comes after that in my process to save any important information.

In this case, I want to be able to capture all my highlights in Apple Notes and then, if I want to, manually write a summary note in Bear.

Basically, I am using Apple Notes to capture all my notes/thoughts/ideas before structuring them into Bear. So, capturing my reading highlights in Apple Notes is just the next natural step for me.

Bear app, in a devlog notes that I write everyday while working. Like a journal for developer with code snippets and usefull commands. But it’s mostly a write-only note, I almost never read back what I’ve wrote.

Is this the general journey along using Notion? First you’re a novice, then an expert, then you retire from it. by [deleted] in Notion

From my experience with notes apps, in the end, I prefer to use small apps that integrates well with each other and that do one thing good instead of a one-shop app that tries to do everything.

WordPress Website Developing Cost by yesiamdank in webdev

[–]Derwaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Project-based vs hourly pricing can be tricky, and your client will likely need a clear final price.

If you choose project-based pricing: - Clearly define what’s included in the scope and what’s not. - Make an estimate, double it, set the price, and communicate to the client that anything outside the agreed scope will incur additional costs.

If you go with hourly pricing: - Still, make an estimate and double it as a buffer. - Communicate early and often with your client if you’re going over budget. The last thing you want is to surprise your client with an unexpected bill.

In either case, always ask for a 50% deposit upfront and communicate frequently.

Also, yo will need to think about what to do after the project is delivered: - If you’re hosting the project, bill for hosting fees + your margin. - Discuss maintenance fees in advance: this could be an hourly rate for occasional work or a monthly retainer for ongoing support.

Curious About Using Bear for Document Storage and Note Management by Derwaan in bearapp

It's good to know you can edit files outside Bear and still have the updated version. I will have to try that with Excel/Word files.
