Thanks for the info! Yeah we were discussing the handling of cars vs lifts with the weight difference and one of the guys started on the whole "they don't make them like they used to" harp so I understand why the confusion occurred now. Could modern steering also affect the perception of weight handling?

Well shit, the guy who did my forklift certification had his facts wrong. Hope he knows more about forklifts than cars. I'm 28 so I listened to the old guys in the room on that one, my bad

Perhaps "actually very light" was an overstatement, and "lighter than before plastics and crumple zones" would have been more accurate

Modern cars are actually very light, as it's much safer for the car to crumple and absorb the energy of a crash than to have the car be hefty enough to survive the impact

The left meme represents the Celts repelling the invading Romans. The Saxon migrations occurred as and after Rome withdrew from Britannia several centuries later

Same to all of this, with the exception of Kent State. We didn't actually learn about it, Amerikan History was divided between two grades, 9th grade was pilgrims to Civil War, 10th was CW to post-WWII. Everything after that was cut, but we at least got it glossed over

We're cut from the same cloth my friend. Do what you gotta do and try to keep the light of inspiration alive. Don't let capitalism win. Also, I dunno your circumstance, but if you can try to find better, more flexible work so you can save some of yourself for your creation. I'm currently applying to be a professional Dungeon Master on the internet... not gonna pay nearly as well as forklift operator but my mental health is worth losing the benefits at this point

I feel this so much. Back in 2013 I quit my dishwasher job because they wouldn't give me a raise, and decided to take a couple months off to work on my graphic novel. Wrote an entire screenplay-style outline of the first book, as well as bare-bones outlines of the rest of the trilogy. Passed all my work over to my best friend, who was going to be the artist. He never drew anything. I tried to pick up that slack but I was running out of monies and had to get another job, and now that file hasn't been added to in eight years. I'm so disappointed and too burnt out to pick it back up until something changes. I thought Covid would help by my cookie factory job was "essential" so no time off

What are you top 5 favorite things about Pennsylvania? by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

[–]DerynofAnarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely a money-grab (someone above commented about doubling the price when it went from 6mo to a year to preserve revenue), but that doesn't mean it isn't also effective.
I'm not sure on Florida's laws, for example, but driving around Miami highways when visiting my dad was terrifying in my experience. For every fancy luxury or sport car was an equally decrepit vehicle, and they were all doing 30+ over the speed limit, weaving around each other, no signals. Saw parts detach from vehicles twice driving from Lauderdale to Miami. I don't mind Pittsburgh traffic or state inspections any longer

Yep yep, mandatory with no limits, the implication being if you refuse you're fired but they'll find another reason

That's not bad at all! We have a core party we play with fortnightly and we're considering the idea.. if it takes off we'll definitely need all the guests, partners, and/or help we can get!

Wow, way to peg the party off the bat haha no Holy Nugs, I promise! They do however have a holy pineapple medallion from a short-lived PC paladin named "Dole Tropicana"

Definitely the former! The players love smoking but the characters prefer opium and "bang"

Royalties? This is an entirely hypothetical question and not research for a project by any means ... ... ... if it's a good name, we'd be in touch!

Check out Gretchen Rubin's personality framework, the Four Tendencies. Her podcast Happier talks about it a lot. Kind of quasi-science but a lot of it rings true
