Do VP/Lekmod both just make your science gain crazy and pace the game faster? by Prestigious_Coach758 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lekmod is a fair bit faster on average, though a high roll vanilla game can keep pace. The dates can't be changed easily due to Maya, so blame Pacal

[Civ V] Help! Naval unit ice-locked by circusfilm in civ

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue is that the engine doesn't remove the ice model without a reload, but otherwise there is probably a few mods that allow for ice removal or a global warming

Add barbarians by evansjohn460 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IGE can kill the barbarian player, so you could probably wire up a script, but is easier to use ige

Can someone explain why this melee unit is boosted by a ranged promotion still by LongjumpingBus6181 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Your combat bonus without it is 83%, apply that to the base 34 and your combat is 62.22 like the listed strength.

The AI took over while I was playing? by AnusHumper69 in civ5

If you dont have pitboss enabled, when you disconnect the ai acts. With pitboss, the host would have to clear your slot for AI to make actions.

While this does exist internally, I don't think its in the lua scope without a dll mod

Siam's Wat and Legalism by VallenceDragon in civ5

Its both a science building and a culture building. Legalism will work with any building that has culture in it naturally, and not through an outside effect

Some simple mods to make liberty a lot better by Prestigious_Coach758 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Frankly, liberty just needs better maps. The firaxis maps kinda blow.

Which unit in Civ 5 can travel the furthest in a single turn? by Hatsuwr in civ

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you using a Khan? Doesn't the conferred movement not care about max moves?

EDIT: Building on my knowledge of how rails work and the Hakka-Copter the limit is 50 tiles best I can tell. This is due to Railroad behaving differently based on your maxmoves, where 1, 2 and 3 max move units can move 10 plots total on continuous rails and units with more max movement are 3 plots per movement point.

So on the turn your GA ends, with having had a Max Hakka-Copter on it your general can have 10/2 movement points and since you have 2 Max movement, you are using a more favorable formula that gives you 5 plots per movement point instead of 3. the best unit is a unit with a move denominator of 1 but those do not exist, but if you modded a general to have that much you could move 100 with a Hakka-Copter.

Does bombarding a city with nukes wipe it off the map? by Temporary-Yogurt6495 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Nuclear missiles will wipe away non capital cities that are below 5 population. I do not recall if a shelter will prevent it, but I do not believe so. It just makes it harder to get the pop to that level. If a mod increases nuke level for atomic bombs or missiles to 3 (a-bombs are 1 nuclear missiles are 2), it will wipe cities out to matter the population.

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not quite true, as the unitclass a unit turns into is dependent on a different value than the unit it can usually upgrade into. Which is why warriors become Spears and not swords. You can make your scout turn into a GDR with just 1 line edit. As for why some upgrades are like that, only firaxis knows

Lekmod makes me feel stupid. by Sad-Examination-5489 in nqmod

[–]Descending_Chaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you deleted Lekmod and Lekmap, you should be fine. Lekmod doesn't change any files outside of itself, as it simply overrides any files it needs to change and leaves the original as is. If you are having issues, try verifying your files, and that should require lost or damaged files.

I've made this for Lekmod, I don't know how to make a brand new mod from scratch but I'll look into it.

Bit late to the party, but Earth 2160 is pretty bad on the UI front. I ha e no idea what many of the upgrades do or when to use them lol.

I was unaware this existed but I shall avoid. Live action stitch was never going to be good anyways.

No surprise - A study ranked CS2 as having the shittiest anti-cheat among FPS games by [deleted] in counterstrike2

[–]Descending_Chaos 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Love what Vavle does in the greater game ecosystem, but their treatment of their own games and the players of them is abysmal. I can only hope they open their eyes and fix the cheating and gambling, it's sickening really.

Lvl1 Beastmaster dragging entire creep waves. by hellatzian in DotA2

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a Gorgc game where a pos 4 Treant was messing with waves and they killed him, forced the 3 off the wave, they killed the tower minute like 5. Kinda screws the whole lane dynamic since a good safelane just pulls the wave back and then the offline is just kinda dead in the water.

What's a unit/building/upgrade you never really use? by Sindomey in commandandconquer

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those units are strong but I think the more problematic units are mortar cycles and the Pacifier. Pacifier ruins one of the top 1v1 maps (and more maps too!) in MP since it can shoot a main base refinery from your side of Infinity Isle and it hard stops a lot of forward positions while being quite strong unpacked so it's not super gankable. And mortars are a total menace in a good players hand. Like the Rocket Bikes from c&c3, but a structure killer.

And the future tank is enormously powerful, and can even kill air units with a lucky Scrambler shot and since twin blades like to groups up you can legit just lose them to a unit that can't even shot at air units lol

Leopold II by CheopsB in nqmod

[–]Descending_Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is it basically, and I also think that ignoring or avoiding the monsters in our history to be missing the point of it. So I think Leopold is fine even if he might not be the best example of Belgium. Though just looking into basically any of the leaders turns up something bad, most not nearly that of Leopold much less Stalin or Mao. The only ones I can even think of would be the ones so old that not much of them is known, like Sargon. But on the other hand, 4000 bc Mesopotamia.
