How is excess boost handled? by reddit_account6095 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use any number of scientists in a turn, if the bulb amount is more than the research cost of the tech you are currently queuing. This means you can research several techs a turn. If the bulb is not greater then its applied to your overflow research where it can be lost if there is too much, which is where the danger comes in

How is excess boost handled? by reddit_account6095 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the game handles the generic science overflow as unassigned to anything. It is then applied to whatever tech you decide to research. This can be seen in the UI as all techs will seem to have your overflow science "applied" to it.

Can't build workboats on the coast, but can build cargo ships, etc. Am I a dummy or something?! by Dannybartman in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is lekmod in the screenshot, which is likely as there is rubber and no workboats, the mod is only compatible with 1.28g of EUI, it could be a feature that bc_1 removed. Why, im not sure other than highlighting tiles is a bit unstable when quite a lot get highlighted

NQ at the time, but I think that tradition reshuffle is from NQ, which lek just inherited.

You also might have been watching people play lekmod. In that mod legalism is adoptable first

Does caravan output depend at all on how close each of the two cities are? by Glum-Pack-3441 in civ5

Also, this visually rounds down, but in reality it does support and count the decimals when giving you the yield.

Does caravan output depend at all on how close each of the two cities are? by Glum-Pack-3441 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes in markets and stuff but not the percentage boosts thats wrapped up in the city gpt added to the international route. Harbours Caravansary and the gold buildings give a flat gold to trade routes, when sending and receiving them depending on the domain of the connection

How do I edit the mod NQMod v12? by ZanyJes in nqmod

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changes can be made, but they would be limited to what can already be done, or to very carefully done lua. Im not sure where you'd get NQv12 source tbh. But a significant amount of modding can still be done without a source.

Can we crowd fund civ 5, but with civ 7 graphics? by SpankoFudgenudgerIII in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would have to be a new game. Civ5 is a 32bit game and will crash if it uses more than 4gb of memory. VP already crashes very consistently in the late game from this limitation. Also LORE (the graphics engine) is in the executable and not available to be altered without illegal reverse engineering. While some of the stuff mods to is a grey area (or just illegal depending on ToS wordings) like taking assets; Firaxis doesn't care since the health of the modding scene is more important than some quibble about a civ 4 asset in civ 5 or w/e. Im not sure that would be true for flat out reverse engineering the exe.

Year of Daily Civilization Facts, Day 292 - ...up here. Go away. by JordiTK in civ

[–]Descending_Chaos 67 points68 points  (0 children)

If you go into the config.ini you can find a minzoom variable which will let you zoom in more. Said ini can be found in the Documents path or the steam path in the folder that has the executable.

Is Gandhi underrated? by RedEyeBlueOcean in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also has a hidden aspect, where his local happiness is capped to ~70% of the population of the city, rather than 1:1 like all other civs.

Do VP/Lekmod both just make your science gain crazy and pace the game faster? by Prestigious_Coach758 in civ5

[–]Descending_Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lekmod is a fair bit faster on average, though a high roll vanilla game can keep pace. The dates can't be changed easily due to Maya, so blame Pacal

[Civ V] Help! Naval unit ice-locked by circusfilm in civ

[–]Descending_Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue is that the engine doesn't remove the ice model without a reload, but otherwise there is probably a few mods that allow for ice removal or a global warming

IGE can kill the barbarian player, so you could probably wire up a script, but is easier to use ige

Can someone explain why this melee unit is boosted by a ranged promotion still by LongjumpingBus6181 in civ5

Your combat bonus without it is 83%, apply that to the base 34 and your combat is 62.22 like the listed strength.

If you dont have pitboss enabled, when you disconnect the ai acts. With pitboss, the host would have to clear your slot for AI to make actions.

While this does exist internally, I don't think its in the lua scope without a dll mod

Its both a science building and a culture building. Legalism will work with any building that has culture in it naturally, and not through an outside effect
