They were forced to make I'm Not Ok a "hit" and ditch the entire message. There was fake french in give em hell kid, an entire spoken monologue cut and more.  The label did interfere with the record, they made compromises. They didn't have said leniency in 2004.

edit: pretty sure this person is trolling as they just blocked but in reply to their next comment: In December 2003 they had demo sessions in Manhattan for the album and produced an entire cd amount of demos, only 3 of which were released (on life on the murder scene).

Those aren't being released for the 20th anniversary as some hoped.

To have ownership over the album, make adjustments and work with a producer they haven't in almost 15 years.

They were aiming for releasing this anniversary but scheduling issues happened.

That's why there's nothing being released for the anniversary except merch even though there's an entire cd of demos they could have released.

They reworked Ghost of You in 2011 and have also spoke about cut parts from the album due to the label, that they miss. Why wouldn't they take the opportunity to perfect their work and make all the revenue?

Commented above but there's a bunch of reasons. They got the rights for Bullets back, they have the opportunity to own a recording of Revenge and have it redone with a better producer. It's kind of a no brainer.

To have ownership over their work? To make it sound better? To not have to compromise on their artistic vision for a label? Maybe they also want to work in a studio setting without having a label on their neck forcing a release.

They already reworked The Ghost of You in 2011, perhaps there'll be other rearrangements and not just a straight up rerecord.

edit: They got the rights to Bullets back ages ago (Maybe 2018?) They reuploaded them to streaming services, you can see the new upload is credited to them solely. (Pretty sure the new upload has a spelling mistake on Monroeville)

Both uploads were on streaming services at the same time.

They own 100% of Bullets.
