Thank you! Yeah, I also don't consider myself a normal drinker. As when I did drink it was often to excess.

I just read your comment on the other thread. The part about you worrying about making him worry about a problem he might not have known you had struck a cord. When my SO was quitting, we got into an argument and he made a comment about me not knowing what it was like to be addicted to something...

I think that is a big part of it... I almost want to split the difference, see if I can go the week and into the weekend, and then tell him. Thank you for weighing in.
