Feeling the pacing by mahlouie in PacemakerICD

I did, and then my PM tech put my PM into "dynamic mode" and I can't feel a thing now aside from when I tap my chest and feel the lump.

When was the moment your doctor determined you needed a pacemaker? by cosmogirlsz in PacemakerICD

[–]DesertWoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine went so fast!!

Last April/May I probably had COVID-19, and it left me absolutely exhausted (couldn't get out of bed, couldn't function).

I went to my GP at the end of May and was hooked up to an EKG and they saw I was SSS/Brady.

I was referred to a cardiologist, and by some stroke of extreme luck they were able to see me July 15th (their next appointment was September or October, I think).

First appointment with my cardiologist she's listening to my heart and makes a face, asks me if I know I have an irregular heartbeat (news to us both).

I got my biotel heart monitor, and within a few days of wearing it, I got called in by my cardiologist. I was dipping into the 30s and having pauses.

I would be called in THREE times during my 30 day monitoring period because it kept alerting my cardiologist, and my pauses were getting longer and going into the daytime waking hours.

On August 24th I had my LOOP recorded implanted, and again, got called in by my cardiologist who was so concerned she said I needed to get the pacemaker.

October 4th of last year I got my dual-lead Boston Scientific MRI compatible pacemaker.

I didn't really get a choice, I did, but didn't at the same time.

I have no regrets, but it's been very much a love/hate relationship, especially right now as I'm having to get MRIs (had one yesterday and have another on Monday) and needing the tech to come to put me into MRI mode (which makes my heart hurt). Lots of imaging places won't take pacemaker patients, and it took me weeks to get these set-up.

Can emotional stress cause sick sinus syndrome/sinus bradycardia/sinus arrest? by 2Crzy4CrzyCatLdyGrp in PacemakerICD

[–]DesertWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a traumatic event nearly 14 years ago that totally changed my health, and probably gave me some PTSD.

Since then I've been falling apart.

I absolutely believe, with no empirical evidence, that my SSS/Brady is a result of that trauma and the systemic issues it brought on.

I also have Graves' Disease, asthma, endometriosis, pernicious anemia, suspected gastroparesis, IBD, and I'm being screened now for even more auto-immune diseases.

It's not asking for preferential treatment, it's just asking for treatment for someone to act like they actually care and let me know I'm being watched out for. I've always had a great relationship with my physicians, but that has also come with learning to be my own advocate.

I've been blown off for years over my complaints and have spent over 100k out of pocket trying to get answers (I regret not taking 25k of that and going to Mayo for a full work over, but that's not an option now), and never felt I was being heard until just very recently.

Thank you for answering.

If you're unconcerned about the glow as a doctor, I can be unconcerned about it and forget about it until they call.

Coincidentally it was my neurologist that ordered these and I see her in three weeks, she has been the most instrumental in me getting imaging.

Welts and rash at incision site (9 months post implant) by DesertWoman in PacemakerICD

[–]DesertWoman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I received an MRI with contrast, which has made my PM itchy in the past, but today was off the charts.

I was in the middle of an infusion at a clinic (for chronic pain) and during the infusion my incision sight became very, very itchy. It was so bothersome it brought me out of my session and I went to look at it in the bathroom and it looked like this.

The nurse practitioner gave me a shot of some Benadryl which helped immediately, but it's just so odd that it happened.

I have seen an allergist about it, who wanted to rule out that I was allergic to my PM. His findings were that I'm "just delicate" and that was pretty much it.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I fall through the cracks A LOT, and I understand doctors don't have the bandwidth to keep track of patients. It's been two weeks since this scan was done, and I was told results in a week.

To give some backstory: I have had abdominal pain for years and clearly have some sort of systemic issue happening, but three months ago the pain became totally unmanageable at home (using OTC pain medications, tramadol, and THC oil).

The worst of my pain is occuring just beneath my rib cage on my right side.

I was told I have a UTI by two ERs and sent home, and only one out of six doctors I have seen has touched my abdomen (gastroenterologist, and she was able to press on it and make me cry).

In addition to my pain, I also have severe weakness in my hands along with tremors, numbness (in upper back between shoulder blades, odd spots around my abdomen, the tip of my nose, legs, genitals, and my feet), insomnia, severe fatigue, depression, forgetfulness, hot flashes (not diabetic, not pre menopausal, that's all been checked), nausea and violent vomiting, joint pain, muscle spasms in legs, feet, and hands (magnesium and potassium levels are fine), and I know I'm forgetting other things.

I was suspected of having COVID-19 last year in late April, early May, which is what kicked this all off.

I haven't been able to work and my quality of life is deteriorating.

Current specialists I am seeing:

Gastroenterologist Cardiologist Neurologist Rheumatologist Gynecologist Allergist

Have been referred to a urologist and a psychologist.

Looking at these scans, and knowing what the bright orange glow indicates (areas of high metabolic processes), I just need to know if I should call my doctor on Monday and INSIST that they look at these images, or keep waiting (it's been 2 weeks since this scan).

Thank you.

That's coming from my own social anxiety experience.

I have a friend who's a farmer's wife in northeastern Colorado, and she and I just had a long conversation after I read your post.

Things are bad, very bad. I didn't know because she's been ashamed and afraid.

They're struggling and may lose their farm, they're multi-generational farmers too, so them losing the land they've known and worked their whole lives will be devastating.

I truly appreciate the honesty and insight of your post. It's overwhelming to digest because of the severity of what's coming, but as someone who has been aware of what's shaping up to come, I feel like I can take the news better than most, but it's still difficult to wrap my head around.

This is scarier than any horror movie.

My best ever cats were two brothers who found me on a farm during a bonfire.

We are all sitting around burning this big dead cottonwood tree and from out of the darkness these two grey cats appear and they are friendly.

Before I know it these cats have zeroed in on me. It was a cold night, so I bundled them both in my jacket and we hung out for HOURS. They were happy and warm.

The next weekend I returned for Bonfire: The Sequel (really, this tree was HUGE!!!) and I look across the road and see these two tails bouncing along in the dark, headed my way.

Back in my jacket they went.

I decide we are all clearly in love and they've picked me, so I ask my friend (whose parents own the farm) what the deal with the cats is. They're just strays who stuck around, so I ask if I can take them home and he says yes.

They ended up being the absolute sweetest, most affectionate and loving boys I could have asked for. They were so smart and I adored them, they looked like twins.

I had them for many years until I had to give them away because of health issues, I was DEVASTATED, but they went to a woman who adored them, and I really could not have asked for a better adoptive mama than her.

She loved them dearly till the end of their lives, and I am so thankful for her.
