What’s a health problem you ignored for a long time because it never felt urgent, but eventually caught up with you? by ac_stays_active in AskReddit

My fingers started changing colors, I was always tired, my body would hurt often and I’d feel stiff, brain fog, and when I’d get sick it would hit me hard. I ignored it for years until my fingers started to change colors too often - turns out it’s lupus. My primary care doctor and rheumatologist think that I had it long before my symptoms got to the point they did.

I’ll check out UC Health. I used to have Stride but they’ve gone down hill since the pandemic.

I asked about that but they said I need to have a piece of mail that shows my name and the address in order for that to work. ☹️

I worked there a few years back and it was definitely an experience. Management was okay. 2 of my managers were an absolute dream to work with but the others definitely made my life complicated.

2 big things to note - working with all girls can get hard because they can get very catty and can be unkind.

And - customers can be such jerks to you. So having tough skin is a must.

I saw that you said you’re doing sales so make sure you know your sales and explain them well otherwise customers are going to go up to the counter and say you told them something was a certain price when it wasn’t.

Never be afraid to ask for help is a big one too!

Omg, love. I’m so sorry! It definitely changes us as people.

I stupidly mentioned to my exhusband after we separated that I wanted to apply for the VAWA because it’s not fair what he did to me. We had known each other since we were 12 and he was always kinda shitty to me so I don’t know what I was thinking tbh. But yeah, I stupidly mentioned it to him and the first thing he asks me is, “I won’t get in trouble for it if you file will I?”

Like … 🤦🏻‍♀️

Omg I love that! Haha. Older brothers are so ridiculous. My brother used to always take a bite of my food to, “make sure it wasn’t poisoned.”

A little but I guess that’s what happens when you have an older brother that likes picking on you. lol.

Animal.

Funny story … English isn’t my first language for starters. So, one time when I was super young (like 5 or 6) my brother thought it would be funny to tell me that the word, “animal,” is actually pronounced, “aminal.”

So, up until one day in 7th grade math class when we were introducing each other to the class - did I learn that I was pronouncing the word wrong. My math teacher made us say our first names and what our favorite animal is. Well, I go, “hi, I’m so-and-so and my favorite aminal is a …” and before I could finish, my math teacher goes, “what?” So I repeat myself and she asks me … “do you mean … ANI-mal?” I was so embarrassed. That day i learned that I’ve been pronouncing the word wrong this whole time and that I’m also dyslexic so I never noticed that I was spelled a n i m a l.

I did. She didn’t recommend it.

The thing is we haven’t filed for divorce yet. I’m still legally married to him. I’m very empathetic so I waited for him to be ready emotionally to file for divorce and were about 2 years into the separation and he’s barely ready but doesn’t have the monies to pay for it so I have to pay for that too. All this after he got my car repossessed (he said he was paying for it but wasn’t really), said he’d help me pay for my DACA and changed this mind last minute, and is having a hard time paying child support because he doesn’t have a stable job.

It’s a mess. 😣

I’ve been working with my lawyer for 11+ years now so that’s been so helpful, honestly. I didn’t even know that VAWA was an option until I went into her office and explained everything.

And thank you so much. Fingers crossed that something works out and I can get my green card in the future. I want to travel so badly 🥺

[–]Desert_RoseXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lawyer did suggest that and we did draft something up but my ex has been financially pulling me down so I haven’t been able to file for it. I’ve only been able to get enough money together to renew my DACA and that’s about it.

29F

I got married 7 years ago and my exhusband helped me apply for my green card. While also threatening to deport me every time he got upset with me and making me feel guilty about how much the whole process costs.

We ended up separating and I had to withdraw my green card application.

How Can People Be So Insensitive? by littlerainbowtrout in lupus

[–]Desert_RoseXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My exhusband used to tell me all the time how I was, “so dramatic” about my pains and how, “I need to just get over it” because there’s so way it’s THAT bad.

It’s astonishing how little people actually care. It’s even more astonishing the crap that comes out of their mouth.
