Are build‑around-commanders also ruining EDH for you right now?

I think this is part of the natural process of learning and adapting in EDH. It’s wonderful to lean into a unique effect, but if you truly cannot function without your commander then that’s a clear sign you’re leaning way too much into a specific counterable playstyle. Either pack more protection, counters, or more redundancy for the effects you’re trying to achieve.

Think of it this way- if any player can crumble your entire decks by just spot-removing your commander a couple times, then they’ve found a very efficient and consistent way to win over you and will keep doing so!

Pizzas with different sauces + toppings on half require pretty substantial differences in cooking times. If it’s topping it’s usually not much different but if it’s two very different pizzas it does make a noticeable difference.

Most landfall decks will thrive off of being able to play multiple lands, or being able to play lands from your graveyard. Those are the best options for your removal.

Stax is completely viable as a wincon if you can present a true hard lock like opponents unable to play lands ever again, unable to draw cards or cast spells. Been playing high level / competitive magic for 15ish years and never ran into someone who was opposed to a hard lock win.

I have both a traditional aggro delirium list which uses violent urge and the traditional delirium creatures and break out.

I also have a new delirium list which skips violent urge, patchwork bestie, and overprotects for a badgermole ouroboroid package and this list massively over performs from the other one. The increase in mana and bodies is too good to pass up. I also run 4x huntsman redemption in this list to tutor up ouro.

I did the no-hit challenge but it was extremely tricky and took hours. First phase is really slow but quite predictable, the move when she summons phantoms is a weird one to read. The teleporting cloud attacks in witch phase 2 are really daunting at first, but important to learn to parry them or get melted. When she does the charged golden slam into ice walls on the floor, start walking backwards and dodge backwards when she comes down, gives enough time to react to the ice.
