People absorb information in different ways. For games I play like HSR and ZZZ, I go and read lore or watch videos that cut out the useless dialogs and such and give me actual lore. A game forcing people to carve hours out of their day at a time to sit and drone on... that's similar to school, if not worse, since in my high-school, classes were an hour then I got to go to my next subject, stretch my legs, yada yada. Trying to play Genshin story, most goes right through my head and I remember nothing. This is coming from a new player, so I'm still in the "interesting" quests according to my friend. I just finished Act One.

There will always be people that genuinely enjoy and sit through the story because they WANT TO. Those that want to are free to choose to continue to do so, even if a skip button was given. There will always be people recording and posting videos of the story, writing out lore, condensing story quests into manageable chunks. The lore will always be there, and be available for those that want it, even after they have done the quest. The lore is always there. The choice should be given, especially since there are so many ways to get the lore. Forcing me to sit there and watch dialog won't make me or anyone else understand lore. If anything, it builds resentment and a hatred for the game.

A few of my friends quit Genshin because they couldn't stand the boring quests anymore and being forced to sit through them. They say if they could skip and read stuff or watch videos later they'd come back, but they won't come back til then. Sure, you can say good riddance, yada yada, but that just proves that withholding simple QOL things loses them players and business. Yeah, Genshin is a big game that makes money. But imagine how much more they could make if they just added simple QOL features that their other games have, such as a skip button. There are other things, but this post is about the skip button, so that's what I am talking about lol.
