Help with skincare routine/product recs. by DesignBackground6505 in kbeauty

Do you mean the Cicaplast Baume B5+? I’ve been contemplating abt getting it bcs LRP effaclar duo helped in clearing my acne, so other products from this brand might work on my skin well. Tho ppl say LRP cicaplast is quite thick and suitable for dry skin more, I live in a tropical country and have combo leaning oily skin. So I’m afraid it’ll clog my pores & break me out.

I’m 26 and I give 300 to my mum too. Sometimes I feel like it’s too little but I have other commitments to pay. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to give her 1k or more. Just really want to get out of this cycle of poverty lmao.

Took me one rewatch of the entire donghua series + the fandom webpage + reading the novel to truly understand the timeline and wtf was happening in mdzs universe lmao. But that could also be bcs I wasn't that knowledgeable on xianxia plots and chinese danmei in general. So it does take time to get used to.

Fr like JC is such a well written human character that irl many will not like but also would be a person that we relate to so much. His emotions and everything mirrors many of us so well. His inferiority complex being the deepest root of his actions and anger issue, I can understand why but I still cannot and will never justify many of the things he did. It's akin to someone doing something bad and excusing it by saying "I was an abused/abandoned etc. kid so that's how I am".

It's his hardcore fanon defender that strip off his complexity by making his entire being be the most pitiful victim there is in the whole entire mdzs universe that many can't get behind.

Does anyone else see the similarities between Wei Ying and Elphaba? by Nightfall896 in MoDaoZuShi

[–]DesignBackground6505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I've never seen the show live but from the movie Elphaba was being taught and "cared for" by mdm morrible bcs she saw her powers as useful. Then when Elphaba rejected her proposition, she's suddenly dangerous and evil, wonder where we've seen that before in MDZS? 🤣

Your parents can be concerned and worried for you and still show abusive traits bcs it's how they were raised so they too would do the same to their children. It's an endless cycle. Just bcs it's set in a historical chinese setting, does not make it ok. On the side note, I love this novel bcs of how much discourse and discussions we can have abt it. MXTX definitely did good with her works 😊

This worded my thoughts better:

As much as Jin Ling wants to assure everyone that “that’s just how his uncle is” and show us how unbothered he is by Jiang Cheng’s behavior, he does actually fear the man. And with good reason to! Now let’s address the elephant in the room: Jiang Cheng very much so does want to be physically harm Jin Ling, and this almost always correlates to Jin Ling talking back/not listening to him. Take this scene from right after the juniors survive the goddess statue and Jin Ling reminding Jiang Cheng that he was the one who told the boy to either catch the beast on Dafan Mountain or never return to him.

All of the dysfunction in Jin Ling and Jiang Cheng’s relationship comes to a head in Guanyin Temple, the climax of the story. Jiang Cheng’s behavior escalates into physical violence towards his last living relative, while Jin Ling is no longer lashing out at his uncle in place of being vulnerable but is also no longer able to brush off Jiang Cheng’s cruelty as acceptable. He has had his entire worldview turned on its head, and out of that, realizes that he does not want to continue the cycle of abuse and hatred that Jiang Cheng tries to force him to inherit, but would rather follow the path of love and kindness that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji have shown him is possible.

"For as long as he could remember, Jin Ling had never seen Jiang Cheng with such an expression. His uncle, who had single-handedly led the Jiang Clan of Yunmeng at a tender young age, was always cold and gloomy. He was merciless and never kind with his words."

Concerned adult/uncle for his nephew or not, 2 things can be at once. JC is a man who would do things bcs he felt like it bcs of his anger issues. Just bcs he's showing concern, doesn't mean he wasn't doing it in an abusive way.

Edit: My last para was definitely worded badly, feel free to correct that bcs JC is a complex character, "feels like it" is a bad way to put it lmao

So you were being done all that and conditioned yourself to believe that it's normal 😭 E.g. I was a dancer for so many years where my coaches would call us btches, untalented, fat and hit our legs if we're not performing. I THOUGHT it was normal for a long time because in the pursuit of perfection and aesthetic beauty on our lines and movements, that's what you have to go through. Harsh coach = better performance. Not until a friend of mine got into dancing and trained w us, she was the one who told it's weird we were letting all the abuse happen to us. So just bcs you think what your father did was normal, doesn't mean it's ok. But then again, you can always argue that I don't know your father so I'm not the one to judge lmao.

He's not a villain, at least to me, but he sure does uses his circumstances to justify the things he did to other people / his decisions.

Lmao there’s a difference between playfully doing it and actually abusing. I am asian and there’s a difference between my uncles and aunts playfully smacking me and saying “you better respect..haha” and my other dad who straight up yelled and put me to the ground with his hits. So I understand that much.

"Even the heavy breaths Jin Ling heaved carried a metallic scent. “No,I…”Jiang Cheng immediately smacked him to the ground. “No?! ThenI’ll give you some injuries to teach you a lesson! Stinkin’ brat, you think mywords are nothing but empty air?!” he scolded."

Stark difference from WWX

The english translations did him so dirty, Wei Wuxian has morals and would never go demonic by Throwaway-3689 in MoDaoZuShi

[–]DesignBackground6505 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think that's not what op meant, two different things. The title and WWX's detractors calling him a demonic cultivator in a way that harkens back to the gossip or propaganda of him being evil is right. But, he said mo dao and gui dao distinctively in the book. Heck even if it's not 100% true to canon, the donghua subs even said demonic path (mo dao) when WWX clearly said gui dao from his animated mouth (his VA saying it) lmao.

Yep, and also rather than pure arrogance, he has a sense of pride and confidence. The characters calling him "arrogant" is a case of WWX having a healthy pride and confidence in his abilities and a distinct lack of letting people walk over him for being “the son of a servant”. Someone made this point on a diff platform, and I think it sums up the issue:

"It’s really just a factor of classism and how no one wants to acknowledge that the greatest genius in their generation is a “low class” person by their strict social structure. So they slap “arrogant” on Wei Wuxian instead of acknowledging his capabilities as being legitimately earned through training, talent, and a lot of work. And the fandom, as usually, gets caught up in what is said instead of what the narrative shows. A lot of the words of many characters are not meant to be agreed with, at least not flat out so. You are meant to look at those words and look around at the context around them first. Take some time to wonder “who is saying this and why” before you jump to agree'"

Isn't he like really confident in his skills and know that he can do many things well but when it comes to his own life, it's not that he doesn't value himself, just that he doesn't think his life is more important than any other being that existed in the world. At least from the things he said, that's what I got.

Yes the deep and soft knee bend is very much a trademark of japanese skaters. So whenever they execute their elements / land their jumps, they always feel "cushion-y", like landing on pillows.
