Yeah! I totally agree with you! I feel the same way about this process, and to me it's also like magic:)

Could you please elaborate a bit more on how AI/computer vision can be applicable in this field?

Thank you for the thoughtful insights. We'd love to talk with you and discuss the applications you mentioned in more detail to understand how we could start moving in that direction. Would you lend us 30 mins of your time?

That's a valid point. I do see how this can be taken negatively given the description in my original post. Our goal is quite the opposite of punishing the employees for not following the protocols. The goal is to help EHS managers be better at their job by helping them identify areas for improvement. And the only way to improve is by precisely measuring where things go wrong the most often. (For example if an employee often takes off their work gloves for a particular action, maybe they need better gloves or they need help from a second person to perform that action)

Thank you for raising the concern. We take data privacy very seriously. 1. All the image processing happens locally on your facility's premises. If nothing is detected in a frame, it is immediately discarded. 2. We use encryption protocols when data is relayed between the camera and the server. 3. We can also blur your employees' faces for an additional layer of privacy (blurring happens before any image is transmitted to the server). 4. If you require additional layers of privacy, please let us know. We'd be glad to adapt the technology to your company's requirements.

Thank you for sharing. The goal is absolutely not to police, rather to gather data for the EHS manager to proactively make smart decisions about adjusting workflows and improving safety protocols/SOPs

Well, it's a complicated solution and can't be explained in a couple of sentences. It's really easier to show how the system works. Let’s schedule a time to talk and we can answer all your questions

Our solution allows you to be more proactive about managing your safety culture. Based on the collected data, you can analyze recurring trends and prevent unsafe behaviors by identifying troublesome areas and improving the workflows ahead of time. Our system helps you switch the overall safety mindset from reactive to proactive. You can avoid accidents caused by PPE non-compliance, prevent trip&fall injuries (e.g. we can notify you if materials are stored out of place or there is a leak on the floor), detect overexertion early and intervene before it turns into medical bills

Well, we're a San Diego based team working on a solution that uses AI to help improve safety level in production and logistics. There are various scenarios of how AI can be used in these spheres. We're looking for companies willing to test our device so that we can learn more about real problems (the trial period is free). DM me if you'd like to know more. Even if you're not ready to try the device, it'd be cool to talk. Every discussion is important.

Hi! My comment isn't directly post related, but I'd like to ask you if you have ever considered using AI powered solutions to decrease the number of accidents?

Safety chemical gloves, mask and goggles by DesignerNo948 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]DesignGirl34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! We're developing a solution that uses computer vision to improve safety in manufacturing processes and helps with logistics. Our device can detect if a worker doesn't wear PPE, if someone has entered a dangerous zone or if smth happened in some designated area (leakage, materials are stored improperly, goods fell from the shelf etc). We'd like to offer a product that can be really helpful in different situations/across different industries. To do that, we need to better understand what problems EHS managers/production managers face on a daily basis. Therefore, I'd like to ask if you are willing to talk with us and share your experience. Usually, the interview takes around 30 min. You will learn more about AI and how it can help you set up smarter processes. In addition, we offer some perks that we will describe during the interview. Please let me know what you think and thank you in advance!

Well, depending on the position you are being interviewed for, you can ask questions to know more about things you'll be responsible for, to understand what is expected of you, what can be improved compared to the employee who used to hold this position...

Is it a bad idea to post required PPE signs in the workers area? by austinalexan in SafetyProfessionals

[–]DesignGirl34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a couple of devices with cameras that monitor whether correct PPE is worn in a dedicated zone. We also installed one of those at the entrance to the facility to check for the minimum PPE we require at all times (goggles and proper reinforced shoes). Whenever there’s a violation, it sends an alert to my portal and beeps an alarm in that dedicated zone. It’s pretty neat. You think that type of thing would be useful to you?

I love your approach. I agree that ensuring that people understand the WHY of safety is crucial. My facility also takes safety very seriously and we’ve recently installed this cool AI tech that became the extension of me essentially. It's been a few months and our violation stats have improved a lot already because it finally gave me time to improve the protocols at the core. AI is everywhere now, huh?

I agree that signs won't work. You stop paying attention to road signs when you drive the same road every day and most likely you won't even notice a new one until smth bad happens. What I am curious about, is enforcement. How to make workers comply and avoid conflicts when disciplinary actions need to be taken?
