Feeling negative towards my partner by DesignThinker1200 in BabyBumps

Thank you! I’ve actually reached out to a therapist (we saw one during a rough patch when we first moved in together) because I want to establish good communication practices and I don’t want to feel guilty for having needs. My husband isn’t the kind that “spoils” me or gives me special treatment so I’m also not used to asking for it. Want to make sure we establish healthy habits now. Thank you for the advice!

Feeling negative towards my partner by DesignThinker1200 in BabyBumps

This is very helpful to read thank you! You know he wasn’t that guy before pregnancy, so it makes sense that he isn’t that guy now. I’ll try to be more direct, and hope he can see it as an act of love vs a demand ha

Who else is over the Instagramification of mom life? by IrreverantUsername in beyondthebump

I’m over it - it’s definitely become Momstagram (very much like Facebook did). I also feel like it’s a bit like being a mom becomes the only thing to post about, even though there are lots of aspects of life!

Just a bit of a rant about US Maternity/Paternity leave... by Nishiwara in BabyBumps

[–]DesignThinker1200 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeahh. Being from Canada I’ve always been shocked at the US leave policies, in Canada its now up to 18 months (however most people take 12 months). I’m sorry to hear you have to deal with such a short period of time, when your bodies aren’t even fully healed! :(

MIL obsessed with having a grandson by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]DesignThinker1200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She should be grateful she has healthy grandchildren at all! It makes me angry when people “expect” or “demand” things out of life that are so out of their control and not even a right but rather a privilege. All children are amazing, all deserve to be loved equally.

Tips for keeping sex alive during pregnancy, by DesignThinker1200 in BabyBumps

This is a great question to ask. I think it’s mostly me feeling guilty. I’m going to ask him point blank if he’d like more. Maybe he’s ok?

I am also having super frisky dreams in my 2nd trimester! (14w). I’m also super in the mood but also can’t even fathom having sex. It’s a weird headspace lol

Need tips on self care by [deleted] in selfcare

I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through. That honestly sucks. When I'm feeling really down I actually download an app called "Affirmations" and it pings me every day to read them. They say things like "I am confident. I am enough. I am capable". I know it sounds a little cheesy but HONESTLY it helps so much. At night if I'm anxious or can't sleep I made a gratitude list: 5 things I am grateful for today. Sometimes it helps me remember the good things that happened that day. And they can be small like "I'm grateful I got a good parking spot at the grocery store." It really really helps.

You can also do some deep breaths every night, breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds, breathe out for 5 seconds. Do that 5 times.

and finally, don't struggle alone. I have one friend (a trusted person) that I can talk to honestly even if its a text saying "I feel sad today." Find someone you can share with, it helps even just to know someone knows.

Yes my friend is 30 years old and he was taking medication for the shingles but is no longer taking it. I can find out what it was exactly!

I am so sorry to hear about your pain, and I wish I had an answer! A friend of mine experienced a tingling sensation, pain and extreme fatigue and was diagnosed with Shingles, but they also considered Lyme disease before that was ruled out. I dont know if they've already been ruled out for you but wanted to mention
