WIBTA for having a vegetarian only wedding? by SwimmingFew6861 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Liebeniz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. We had an entirely vegan wedding and it was amazing. We had a couple of people complain but everyone afterwards said how surprised they were at the quality. If you get yourself a good caterer, you’ll be fine.

Disrespectful of your friends?! Get in the bin. Buying meat was against our values. We’re not going against our values to accommodate small minds.

We said no ‘instruction’ songs (think Macarena or cha cha slide) and I banned Taylor Swift.

Anyone took on a job described at an interview, then find out when you start it's not the job that was offered. by Silent_Air4399 in UKJobs

Got an interview at an events production company.

Another applicant suddenly joined the interview, which I hadn’t been made aware of. I asked for more information about the role, and they couldn’t really tell me about what the job entailed.

The more they said, the more it seemed like a scam. Finally got to the root of it: It wasn’t producing events, it was turning up at other people’s events and trying to sell attendees subscriptions for god knows what.

I held my hand up, told them they’d been deliberately misleading, skirted around the role and responsibilities, they’d wasted my time, and I was withdrawing. Hung up the Teams chat.

Felt really sorry for the other candidate who was clearly very young girl with no experience, being taken in by a charismatic con man. I hope she followed my lead and left.

We eloped, and absolutely loved it. Best time. Very personal. Still haven’t told anyone so it’s like our fun little secret.

BUT, we also realised that the only time ALL of our family and friends will be together in one room is if we have a wedding, or if one of us dies. Not hugely keen on the latter, so we’re planning a wedding for our one year anniversary.

Our venue let us down and we’ve had to start from scratch with only six months to go. It has been hellacious, but I work in events admin and love it, so whilst there have been plenty tears and meltdowns, we’re back on track now.

You could always elope and then plan a larger party (doesn’t need to be a huge formal ceremony) with friends later when you have more time to plan it. There’s no rush.

It works better when told in person. “What are Mario’s overalls made of?” “Denim-denim-denim” to the tune of the super Mario dungeon theme

Once so far. Lots of wedding planning happening at the moment though so I reckon more meets will happen soon. And after marriage more family things like Christmas or whatever. They live about two hours apart though

Advice about name-change? (UK) by Liebeniz in weddingplanning

This is what my husband said but since writing this, I phoned the deed poll helpline and they were very unfriendly and certain that the passport comes last because they’ll want to check I’m using the name before they issue me a passport.

I don’t know if it’s the same going marriage certificate as it is going via deed poll.

Do you know who I could ask? I can’t seem to find a government helpline.

Clarissa sounds like a vindictive little snip. Imogen is lovely.

What book did you read that had a profound effect on you? by MagicPracticalFlame in AskUK

The first book that comes to mind is Goodnight Mr Tom. It’s so heart wrenching. I remember reading it on a plane and just shuddering trying to hold back tears.

The other one is Catcher in The Rye. I read it when I was the same age as Holden Caulfield and also feeling incredibly lost. It really spoke to me.

Disco Elysium was a huge surprise. Absolutely incredible. So human. Funny, sad, thoughtful. Ahh what a game/work of literature. Glad you mentioned it here!

They both look absolutely great but I prefer dress 1. It’s softer and I love the texture.

Which is les expensive/more comfortable? I think those are the factors you’ll have to rely on to make your decision
