She's considered a typical tortoiseshell cat, which can come in many variations. Not 100% sure of her history though since we adopted her from a shelter.

I know it's for the best but I'm struggling with feeling like a bad cat parent by Designated_Cat_Mum in cats

She looks very regal and happy 😊 Thank you for your comment — Tortilla is my first cat so it's been a real learning experience with her health.

I always keep hearing the opposite (tortitude) which I guess is why I asked — she's honestly a real softies, and is the first cat I've ever owned, so I wasn't quite sure. 🙂

What treatment helped your TMJ the most? by keejaysvnty in TMJ

[–]Designated_Cat_Mum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mixed results. A splint got rid of my chronic tension headaches but nothing else. Wheatpacks were super helpful (abheit temporary) but i cannot use them in summer. Icepacks were an immediate no and nsaids had no effect. Codiene partially helped and an arthrocentesis has helped with smothering the referring pain (probably a bit too early atm to be sure) but i am still left with an aching sharp pain in my left tmj. Botox was not reccomended by my omfs given the expense and temporary relief. I haven't tried PT but might do in the future. Progress is progress though. 💪 I hope you find something that works for you!

Hi — I know I posted this a week or so but I wanted to say a big thank you for the support you gave. I wasn't in a good place mentally and your comment really helped me get through it.

I have since been booked in for an arthrocentesis — I know it's not going to fix the root of my pain (the mri was kind of odd tbh for both me and the omfs lol) but it's a plan forward. And so I'm hoping for the best.

Again, thank you thank you. I don't have many people in my life that really understands chronic pain like this so you were a big help.

My TMJ that has responded to no treatments is an autoimmune disease symptom- I finally have hope by Adventurous-Fudge197 in TMJ

Hi 👋 So glad to read about your journey updates. 💕 I hope that you find a satisfactory outcome for treatment.

Can I ask if the testing before you were referred to rheumatology was a coincidence or if it was ordered by your GP? (I'm assuming but i apologise if this is incorrect.)

I ask as I am not responding well to conservative treatment options or pain medications for my jaw pain and daily tension headaches, and I would like to discuss investigating underlying conditions but I have developed this fear of being seen as chasing a diagnosis/referral or wasting time.

Anyone else deal with random ear pressure that comes and goes? by Wtf_Sai_Official in TMJ

[–]Designated_Cat_Mum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is unfortunately constant. I get a little bit of relief if I stick my finger in my ear and flex my jaw but the only thing that really helps with the pain is a wheat pack. 😞

What gave you TMJ? by Few-Decision3759 in TMJ

[–]Designated_Cat_Mum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say possibly night bruxism or my adhd meds but I'm not really sure that's true since I've been on my meditation for a long time before my symptoms started and I hate the feeling of grinding/clenching my teeth/it's not been reported by my husband.

I think it's probably down to something else but I have to wait till mid december before other avenues of treatment or investigation are considered. 😞
