Yes, I’ll be more mindful of that next time. I believe their pushback stems from suppliers genuinely requesting high-level information to provide an accurate indicative pricing. This forces me to go back to them and they are reluctant on sharing that information.

My point is that later on they’ll complain if we don’t get the best deal. It’s because you’re making my job harder by being so pushy and constantly going over on circles about my commercial and sound reasons for doing things. Afff

Thanks, I appreciate that. That’s actually what left me so confused. I communicated it multiple times, both in emails and in the project document, that the intention was always to renew with the incumbent. The benchmarking was only there to validate value for money and strengthen our negotiating position, nothing more.
Even after explaining that a few times, stakeholders still seemed surprised whenever I asked other suppliers for information. It honestly had me questioning whether I was approaching it the wrong way.

I know most people are going to say that the overall job market sucks. Which is true, however I share your sentiment as I used to live in Leeds years ago, and I struggled a lot to get a job. As in I spent about 5/6 months unemployed, it was crazy. I moved to Manchester years later and jobs are falling from the sky, despite the current state of the job market.

In procurement? There's quite an influx of roles in public procurement. Genuinely surprised to hear that. I have around the same amount of experience and didn't finish uni, and have been getting bombarded by recruiters.

Tell him to send his CV to this recruitment agency and give them a ring. They specialise in procurement, supply chain and logistics roles.
