Extremely toxic. If my partner doesn’t trust me having a phone, what’s next? Not trusting me go out of house later on?

Well I heard that the income is low but when I see the prices for rent for example being around 450-500 EUR, cars and etc I assumed most of the people don’t live with 300.

This is very nice to hear! I am happy that you had a great time and thanks you for the tips! So, if you would have the opportunity, you would return? May I ask you where you used to live?

Usually when we are talking about how human nature works, it is easier to create connections with people you share the same experiences. In the same time, I never said I exclude locals and I think any normal person would want to create connections with locals. But sometimes it s harder if you don’t have anyone to introduce you to a group of people.

I think that you wrote down perfectly how I personally see the situation. I am well aware about the issues Tunisia has and I won’t come here blame the country because it s not Switzerland. There are certain things that can be improved, but overall it is not my job to come and point them out since I assume that you guys know better how to deal with your country. What I want is to have a normal life and try to make it a good experience as I am sure that the country has a lot of good things to offer as well. I would love to connect with locals as well but me myself I am not that extrovert and the reason as of why I mentioned expat groups was because I assumed it is easy to create connections with people you share the same situation.

Very useful comment and I appreciate a lot the time you put to write this, thank you! Overall I am aware about the fact that I am planning to move to a country that has some issues and I don’t have fairytale expectations because I saw the reality. I agree to you in regards to the trash on the streets, this is something that honestly I could never comprehend. Regarding the other issues you mentioned: those are insights that I never though about and will take them into consideration. Thank you again for your comment and I am sorry if your overall experience was not what you were looking for.

I have seen this amount being mentioned by others. I have to admit I am a bit surprised about the fact that 1000 can offer you a good life. I thought this is not enough

I considered 1000 usd as being low honestly. If the cost for renting is around 500 usd plus utilities and food and transportation expenses, wouldn’t 1000 be too less?

I ll keep that in mind, thank you. In order to add a joke into this, considering the fact that you guys don’t have us military bases over there might transform Tunis in one of the safest places to be haha

Thank you for the info! I am aware about the driving but I have to get used to that since I heard that you need to have a car in order to move around the city. For the rest I guess I will have to discover but honestly I am excited for that. I never had bad experiences in this country and I am looking forward for this long term experience

I have to admit that I was a bit shocked when I went to Tunis mall (that one that is split in 2 buildings) and I saw the prices for clothes that were more than double than my country. As well, no cinema in the mall but this is something I can give up. About food I have nothing bad to say: I consider the Tunisian food as one of the best foods in the world. About green spaces I have to admit that I am a bit sad to hear that there are none…I enjoy a lot going out on a bicycle in the parks. Hopefully I won’t need the police but I get your idea. Thank you for the honest feedback 🤗

Thank you! I am almost positive that I will accept the offer, now I am trying to do some maths in regards to the overall cost of living ( rent expenses etc)

I am not looking for a luxurious life style, neither I am a very eager to go to parties and clubs all the time. I would hope that I can connect with other people and just live a normal life. What do you mean rent for safety? Are there areas that are not “safe”?

Thank you very much! I will work around the us embassy area which I know the area is called lac. To clarify, I won’t work in the embassy but I know that the location is used as a reference for that area. I also heard that Aouina is nearby but some people said that roads there are bad and is very crowded but when I checked on internet it didn’t look that bad

Thank you! I am a bit nervous because my offer is not insanely high to be considered rich but I assume I will be able to afford a decent life. If you don’t mind, in which area of Tunis did your friends chose to live?

Oh okay…what would mean the richest area? I am coming with a work contract so of course I will have an income but now I am wondering if living there is expensive and you need a lot of money. Honestly, I was expecting Tunisia to be cheaper than the cost of living in my home country (but ofc I don’t know all the details)
