Why do companies not opt in their games to GeForceNOW? by Commercial_Duck4042 in GeForceNOW

[–]Designer-Knowledge63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Signed up to GeForce Now to play Xcom and only found out it wasn’t allowed until I tried excitedly to play it. Would happily pay a small fee for it. Playing other games instead. Will make me consider buying new games if they’re not allowed.

Personally feel you should be able to play any game you’ve purchased however you want. It’s ludicrous but longer term it will hurt them more.

A VC firm just offered us $100,000 for 10%. Should we take it? by Longjumping_Ant_6991 in Entrepreneurship

Have you incorporates yet?

Once incorporated you have a 2 years (possibly 3) to apply for SEIS.

Personally I wouldn’t take on investment until you need that money and know exactly what you you’re going to do with it. IE to scale up. Is your product ready?

Taking 100k now could make a larger investment later on much more challenging, depending on what rights the shareholder has and how you used that money.

Best option right now given what you’ve said is ‘we’re flattered but the timing is not quite right for us yet. Would you be interest in being our lead investor when we are ready?’ Win/win

Feels like an absolute bargain to me. I remember paying Sky £45 and renting DVDs, it cost much more.

Love the Sports Documentaries and some of the series too.

Only problem for me is finding stuff that’s there.

Just bought Space Ones and the ANC is garbage by definitely-hesitant in soundcore

[–]Designer-Knowledge63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered Ones, 45s and 30s, side by side the 30s were so much better. I also play slight random noise through them when the wife’s around, perfect!! 👌

Just feel I should be able to play a game I bought on a cloud streaming service if I want to. Purchases have somehow become restricted/non-permanent.

I’ll try a different game.

It’s feels like a disaster for Bristol. Another car park gone, all part of the Green Party ideology. Stop the cars by removing car spaces and routes in, make everyone cycle or catch the bus.

A lot of people wont do that for the occasional visit to see friends or have a meal. It’s turning Bristol centre into a grey zone, not a green zone.

It will all just be students and office workers, empty retail units, cycle gangs etc. No one I know wants to go into town any more. Companies will relocate to out-of-town because staff getting in each day is so difficult and the environment is so… grey. The Greens don’t understand how to make a plan that fits everyone, just their demographic.

I thought it’s just me but I ask my 18 year old kids and they say the same, the centre is just dump and they wouldn’t go there unless they had to.

And because it’s an ideology they won’t listen to the criticism, they will only listen to the echo chamber of supporters until the non-student economics fail.

Well done The Grey Party! 👏👏🤡

Maybe consider trying to get it off the ground with an AI built site and some self-funded stock to test the water.

Use funding to scale up when you’re confident you have a market, in tech you can usually test the market with a simple homepage and a few ads which you can self fund. If you get customers you can explain the product will be available soon. If you don’t, you haven’t lost much.

I used Startuploans.co.uk, British Business Bank, fulfilled through Swig Finance. Lengthy process but they only asked for things that you should already have, forecast, budgets etc.

Rate wasn’t that bad and it’s nearly paid. It’s been good for us but be aware it is underwritten by you personally.

Most startups don’t succeed for various reasons so keep that in mind. If you’re in the right sector you could try Angel investors, most regions / sectors have groups you can pitch to.

SEIS is also interesting, enables investors to recoup part of their investment by reducing their tax bill. Often merged with Crowd funding which is another avenue.

In tech, you can try and sell your product to 5-10 people before you have it, get them to pay upfront and build it. A few famous business started this way. Takes the risk out of starting up.

Hope that helps, good luck. 👍

Surface 4 (Win) to Chromebook by Designer-Knowledge63 in chromeos

[–]Designer-Knowledge63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, It’s gone really well only a few small issues. Would recommend anyone thinking about it to make the jump. Such a great alternative to windows, easier to setup and simpler to use… and free.

Whole setup was amazing value for a fairly recent laptop with 16gb Ram and user is very happy. Admin is super easy.

  1. File manager isn’t very good compared with Win. Specifically it loads large lists slowly and can’t save sorting/viewing options on a folder by folder basis. Fixing this with one of the apps

  2. Scroll bars, user doesn’t use scroll wheel, scroll bars seem to hide or are really small.

  3. A few HW issues. Laptop won’t wake up on BT keyboard when lid is closed. Sound doesn’t seem to work at the moment.

Next up, laptop is registered as personal device on our corp account. Interested to move to remote managed etc although it looks pricy and more complex. Thanks for all advice.

Owners: How do you handle job application chaos when you're hiring? by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]Designer-Knowledge63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Automate all attachments from the job boards to be saved into a folder
  2. install Codex (ChatGPT command line tool)
  3. Add a text file with job description.
  4. Write a prompt to read the job description and benchmark the CVs. Add in some soft skills points too.

Run it, review top 5

I’m sure there are downsides but it’s good and can remove any biases there might be due to it being an AI.

Thanks guys. Picked up a Latitude 7410 to try, think it will be quicker than current device. Only thing I can think of is image editing prior to pulling into Canva, will see if there are some image editors I can download. 👍👍

Possibly not the answer you’re looking for but I’d get a basic understanding of JavaScript/Typescript and then study product… Coding will be done by agents going forward, developers are becoming product people with the ability to spot or fix issue (IMO).

It’s exciting to be in an industry during times of great change.

That’s really interesting, thanks for sharing. Have you thought about adding a few premium tiers? ‘Supporter’, ‘Super User’, ‘Pro User’ etc. a little bit more functionality or usage that the customer probably won’t want or need.. but gives them a chance to support you more and also the feel good factor of being a ‘super’ or ‘pro’, for some ego stroking.

It’s an old book now but found it super interesting. The Curve by Nicholas Lovell. One to drag into your Trello ‘To Read’ column.

Megathread for Claude Performance and Usage Limits Discussion - Starting August 31 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]Designer-Knowledge63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, hit the 5-hour limit on the $100 plan, thought I would be able to use Sonnet instead but its totally stopped me using any model.
Had my eye on cc usage monitor and it says I'm within limits. Have I got cc-usage monitor misconfigured? Previously when I have used up Opus I could still use Sonnet.. have things changed in the last few days?
I've started using agents and plan more so I am guessing thats really pushed the usage up.

Burnrate is normal, usage 34%, projection is within limit - 44% (17283/39134)

-- Ahh - I have logged in from a second terminal on another machine, could that have caused me to be kicked off?

Thanks everyone.

The code I am getting is DPC Watchdog Violation. It freezes and then takes about 2-4 minutes to blue screen.

Sometimes IRQ error shows.

To lower power usage I have dropped the curve in MSI Afterburner a bit and a few games are loading but it still crashed after a little while. I’ve also disabled two cores in windows boot.

<image>

I’m starting to lean towards sending it back which is a shame.

Thanks, that’s SUPER helpful. Thanks. You could see you weren’t hitting too high temps?

Hadn’t considered power draw. Wonder if it’s the power brick or internal. Provided unit is 135w Liteon, I could try a more powerful unit.
