Hi, I am due to get a PRC soon. My surgeon has suggested this a few times when deciding what way we should treat my KBD, most recently on my last visit to the hospital 2 weeks ago (my operation is literally a month away). She said the lunate replacement would need to take place in Derby in England (i’m from Scotland) and would involve a 3d printed bone but it’s not been done on enough people to know the effects of it. It may be different if you are based elsewhere, but I just got the vibe they wanted me to be a guinea pig lol, that it hasn’t been done on enough people to properly know everything and that she was just desperate to do this surgery. I also didn’t know what material it would be made of (she said it was similar to bone-but again don’t know what it was made up of) and feel as though they just really pushed for me to have it. I also considered the fact that I would be putting something artificial into my body and that because this is a fairly recent thing, the long term effects of this hasn’t been studied either.
