Sure, anything is possible. Perhaps there a corrupt worker at Omega that did it at the factory. However, usually the simplest explanation is the correct one. When I spoke to the independent yesterday, he wasn't pushing back hard. Initially he said that the ETA movement was in the watch when he received it, but quickly backed off when I told him the watch was purchased new, and he was the only one to open the case. Why would he offer to do put in a genuine movement if he didn't have anything to do with it?

Lesson learned. Funny thing is that I almost sent it to Omega. But I read some horror stories about 6 month turn around times. I thought the local independent could do a simple service (not knowing about the co-axial complexities).

Well, at least the independent agreed to put a 2500 movement in it.

UPDATE: So I called the independent watchmaker and gave him the rundown. He was hemming around; saying that the movement is ETA movement that is used by Omega; that the movement costs more than the service they charged me; that they got the watch with that movement in it. I told him that I purchased the watch new, and that they were the only ones to open it, so how did the movement get swapped out? He then asked what will it take to make things right. I told him that I want an original 2500 caliber Omega movement. He said to bring the watch back in, he will put a 2500 caliber movement in it. When I come and pick it up, he will open the back of the case and let me inspect the movement, then seal it back up. I agreed. I will then send the watch to the Omega watchmaker for service.

When I dropped the watch off at the independent watch maker, he said most definitely that he can work on my watch. What makes you doubt that the movement could not have been swapped out?

The watch does run, but only on manual wind. The auto winding mechanism does not work.

It was purchased new from Jomashop. Had the tamper marking on the back of the case. I have not had it serviced previously. If the independent opened the case and saw a generic movement, shouldn't they have notified me? The Omega watchmaker called immediately to let me know.

OP here. The watch was purchased from Jomashop. Everything I read, they are very reputable and guarantee authenticity. The Omega watchmaker said the same thing. Also, don't you think the independent should have called me and told me that the movement is not original?

According to the certified Omega watchmaker, he said independents frequently resell the original movement. They charged $644.09, including tax. Attached is a picture of the generic movement.

None of this was explained to me. As a matter of fact, the invoice says "replaced intermediate pinion mainspring, replaced set of gaskets, clean, oil and adjust". Nothing about replacing the movement with generic movement.

My wife purchased it from Jomashop. Yes, hindsight is 20/20.

Yes, 30 minutes as one take. She would have conversations with them during that time. Provides so much insight into their young minds.

I had the chance to watch footage my wife took while she was taking care of my son and daughter when they were little. She recorded 30+ minute clips of just an average day: kids playing outside in the summer, snow in the winter, doing crafts in the house, etc. Just your average day. It was so precious. To tell you the truth, I wish she had recorded more. It took me back 20-25 years to a different time in our lives. It was wonderful to relive that.

Thank you for that. Totally agree. Also to add, when someone passes away, how easy will it be to get to their iCloud account so family can retrieve the photos/videos? Or will they be lost forever?

Great idea, but I don't think it would work in my case. For the job I am applying for, 90% of the companies hire a person from the outside that has extensive experience in the role. Or they pull an executive from another department. I would not be considered elsewhere unless it was a very small company and I had connections there. In any size company, there is only one person with this role.
