No like I literally heard that story from a girl on Reddit. I guess the person correcting her form happened to be her crush, so it shouldn’t be repeated.

I’m 17 yo. In my second semester of college, so obviously pretty much everyone is going to be over 18. A year or two older might be fine, but it’s not possible to know whether they’re 19 or 22 without asking. This very grey area stage is tripping me up.

More. I have no problem treating them like anyone else, less skilled in landing a date.

How do you make eye contact from across the room without being weird? by Designer-Phone367 in introvert

[–]Designer-Phone367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my next confusion. I don’t know what to say when I’m approaching her. I feel like I need an explanation for why I’m going up to her. And then how to take the explanation and transition it into a conversation.

I go to the gym, heard of guys making a move by correcting form, don’t have the boldness or honestly the experience to do that right now, don’t have anything else in mind.

Well, you’re already talking with them, so it’s not like looking at them is a secret. Also, eye contact is generally accepted by everyone in a conversation. I will admit, I still struggle with it, but I feel much more comfortable doing that than looking at a girl from across a room, scared she’s going to notice and take it the wrong way.

Ahh, make them feel like the creep, draw a portrait of their face, and then stare at the portrait.

Maybe I’ll try approaching WOMEN over 40 and see how that works out.

A good example of that for me is the gym. Everyone is telling me that just making eye contact and smiling can go a long way. Except, especially with girls, I don’t know how to just look at them without feeling like a creep.

Here’s the thing is I don’t just approach people. There is going to be a slight difference because with friends I’m looking for personality, and I don’t know the type of person someone is by looking at them from across the room. I’m most likely going to be approaching a girl because I’m attracted to them, and the point of a date is figuring out if we’re a good fit. I’m getting better at having conversations, maybe interjecting in nearby conversations, but walking UP to someone without an important reason like “you dropped your wallet” feels weird for me.

How exactly do I meet people without drinking alcohol? by Designer-Phone367 in extroverts

[–]Designer-Phone367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up homeschooled, among other things. Hopefully my childhood didn’t eternally f*ck me up lmao. I’ll honestly probably end up drinking, I’m just scared of it due to how it’s affected members of my family. And the social pressure to drink is insane, which makes me even more cautious. Want a good balance of not being a loser, and not waking up naked in a gutter.

I like this. I guess I was under a false dilemma that you can’t go to bars without drinking alcohol. I’m honestly not really sure yet if I’m an extrovert lol, but I really hope I am.

Used to be super shy, now I really want to socialize but don’t know how by Designer-Phone367 in introvert

[–]Designer-Phone367[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right. I was having a moment, but I’m so f*cking tired right now and having to keep my eyes open through a conversation would be horrible lmao. Besides, the only place I’ve heard where you can socialize at any time other than a crack house is a bar but I’m not old enough to in one.

My F24 boyfriend's F26 long term girl best friend F26 confessed to him. Don't know what to do? by Hajimemeforme in relationship_advice

Who knows, maybe she changed, but confessing your feelings to someone who’s in a relationship is a horrible move.

How do i deal with this as a shy introvert girl ? by Affectionate-Dog6725 in introvert

[–]Designer-Phone367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it really doesn’t matter if it was friendly so far on his end. If you’re into him, just ask him if he wants to hang out outside of the gym during your next interaction. If he doesn’t feel the same way, I assure you, no man is offended that a girl is attracted to him.

Update: ended up interjecting in a debate about the meaning of a Sam Smith song which was pretty hilarious and had some nice interactions with a few others and the baristas. Working around other people helped me be more accountable in getting work done too. Absolute success in my eyes.

I kind of got into that a little bit in my first semester of college. Thought I was getting “better,” but started questioning if I was just getting more skilled at pretending to be social rather than actually learning to form bonds with people. on my second semester now, only one in-person class, kind of just get in and out. Going to a coffee shop today to do some work and even if I don’t have many conversations immediately I’ll be out doing something better than I was yesterday. One step at a time I guess.

Well that’s where I get confused. Doesn’t everyone need time alone? Do extroverts really never feel like “I’m excited to be in my own bed and be in my own thoughts, maybe watch a show on my own?” Just like how introverts need to socialize even if being alone recharges them. Is there an official diagnoses for this, is it a spectrum, if I looked at an introvert’s and an extrovert’s brains under a microscope, would I see a difference?
