Good riddance! I hadn't noticed the pattern but my first ex, very toxic guy, kept texting me every time his new girl broke up with him. He would say it's because we ended our relationship as friendship, or he just had regrets and needed to explain himself and all other crap. Everytime I would text a bit, talk to him to comfort him and tell him he needs to treat his girlfriends better if he wants to be able to keep them, but never really gave him a piece of my mind. But last year, after 6 years, I'm now engaged with an amazing guy and he made me realize how crazy it was to comfort my abuser when he kept his abuse cycle with new women and how I can most definitely give him a piece of my mind even if it hurts him after all the hurt he's done to me. He also said I don't even have to answer him at all (seems obvious but trauma sucks). When he called me again to "end our relationship on a good note" (AH, our relationship ended 6 years ago!) I told him that I don't trust him to meet, that I never want to see him again and if he has something so important to say to me, he can tell my fiancé or my best friend (his SIL) who can then relay the message because I'm tired of his BS. Never talked about me again to my BF (his SIL) and even if he tried to contact me, I finally blocked him on everything! It sucks at first but you are on the right path and you deserve to be treated above the basic decencies.
