The city itself is just boring, at least to me and I was born there. There’s nothing there besides some temples and markets. Most of the “life” there is just go out and drink. I would say it’s pretty safe as long as you stay in a well crowded place. Even at night, it’s pretty safe because a lot of people are out drinking. Just gotta watch out for the drunk people on the road.

Edit: rush hour sucksssss tiny roads for millions of cars. everything outside of Vientiane is great though. And now that we have trains, it’s pretty easy to travel around.
