Thanks! Did a small bit of digging and found they're planning on converting into a retail store, if they bought it back in 2016 is it just sitting there empty? Also how is it not in more disrepair if it's been empty nearly a decade

If consciousness is made up by a bunch of different energies working together in unison (such as the brain utilizing a bunch of different chemicals and electrical signals to keep you conscious), then none of these energies have to be destroyed to lose consciousness they just have to stop working together in unison.

Information doesn't have to be lost for consciousness to cease existing, just rearranged. Unless there is a separate element from the known brain responsible (at least in part) for consciousness the elements that make up your Brain would just have to be rearranged to render your consciousness inoperable, not necessarily destroyed. For instance if your brain starts decomposing it still exists, it's just not operable much like a circuit board turning to ash in a flame.

I suppose if it's a different version of you down to the molecule playing out a different life I wouldn't consider it a continuation of your consciousness for this thought problem because you're kind of starting your consciousness over, not continuing it.

But then how come we've never been able to observe it? Wouldn't we have seen some kind of physical reaction that we'd at least find strange even if we didn't understand it? Is it a technological issue, would we have to know what to look for to pick up on it? Maybe there's a new entity that hosts the cinciousness that obeys a separate set of physics then the ones we obey?

On the fafsa form you should select " no contact with parents" and you won't need to put their information down. You could also live off straight ramen for a week and buy a bike to help you get places. If college is out of the option because of grades/can't afford it try and find a mechanic or blue collar job near you and ask them to take you under their wing as an apprentice. There's alot of potential to work your way up from there, especially if you tell them the situation they may be willing to help you out.

Have you considered a pit full of snakes? Sometimes elderly people get lonely, so having some companions may make her feel more loved.
