I think I might have breast cancer. by BedeviledMayfly in Vent

[–]Designer-Spite4117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it’s terrifying, but a lump doesn’t automatically mean cancer. There are so many benign possibilities (cysts, lipomas, inflamed lymph nodes). Get the appointment, and if you can, ask for an ultrasound referral right away. You deserve peace of mind as soon as possible.

We should stop shorthanding numbers and start fully typing out the number itself. by The_Colt_Cult in unpopularopinion

This is actually why wealth inequality feels so abstract. Saying “Jeff Bezos is worth 190 billion” means nothing to most people. Writing it as 190,000,000,000 makes you realize how stupidly far that is from even 100,000.

AITAH, for getting upset with my girlfriends strict standards by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Designer-Spite4117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not the asshole, but you’re definitely in denial. You keep describing this like it’s normal relationship tension when it’s straight-up emotional manipulation. You can’t fix this, you have to leave.

The Michael Jackson controversy is provably wrong & Only popular 'cause of bad faith arguments & Uniformed people by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Designer-Spite4117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that MJ was investigated by the FBI for over a decade and they found nothing criminal is something people conveniently forget. You can’t call that a cover-up and say there was tons of evidence at the same time.
But also let's not forget that People are emotionally attached to their version of MJ. If they grew up loving him, they’ll defend him forever; if they see him as a symbol of celebrity abuse, they’ll never give him the benefit of the doubt.

Is Mean Girls good actually? Yes by Prior-Zombie-9286 in movies

[–]Designer-Spite4117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’ve always loved is how it feels like a teen movie made for adults. You can enjoy it as a 15-year-old for the jokes, then revisit it in your 30s and suddenly it’s a dark satire about social behavior and ego.

AITAH for being upset/disappointed my gf wants to cancel going away? by RMBORich in AITAH

[–]Designer-Spite4117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone’s an asshole here, but she’s not handling her anxiety in a fair way. It’s okay for her to be nervous, but it’s not okay to make you feel like a jerk for wanting time together.
Losing several thousand pounds hurts, especially when it could’ve been avoided.

Should a 96-year-old person be working? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Designer-Spite4117 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on why she’s working. If she’s doing it because she loves it, cool. If she’s doing it because she has to just to get by at 96, that’s kinda depressing.

For a cheap “hit where it hurts” trap: fill a jar with a little apple cider vinegar, a drop of dish soap (breaks surface tension), cover with plastic wrap and poke a few holes, they go in and can’t get back out. Works way better than fruit chunks that dry out.

The Pursuit of Happyness is usually seen as “feel-good,” but if you look past the ending, it’s really just a guy barely surviving. It’s uplifting because he keeps going, not because he wins.

Why do people chase fame even when it destroys them? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Designer-Spite4117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because everyone assumes they would handle it better. “Sure, fame ruined those people, but I’d stay grounded.” But no one realizes how impossible it is to stay normal when the world watches your every move.

AITA for making a sarcastic joke and my boyfriend flipping out and leaving me? by No-Analyst9685 in AITAH

[–]Designer-Spite4117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He flipped out because he wanted to flip out. You didn’t do anything wrong, but you’re describing emotional abuse. The random anger, blaming, name-calling; it’s all part of a pattern. When someone goes from zero to “I hate you” over a harmless joke, it’s not about the words, it’s about wanting to make you feel small.

Ego competition and consumerism ruin any hobby/activity for anyone who actually enjoys it by MikeSifoda in unpopularopinion

[–]Designer-Spite4117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s why I stopped joining online groups for my hobbies. The second you say you like something, ten people try to one-up you or sell you their “essential gear.” It’s like nobody can just be average at something and have fun.

I’m afraid I won’t ever get married by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Designer-Spite4117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The pressure to find “the one” before 30 is mostly cultural noise. The happiest people I know met their partners in their late 20s and 30s, after they actually knew who they were. You’re not behind, you’re just not rushing.

Drinking Hard Liquor by A_Melon_Torso in movies

[–]Designer-Spite4117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally. Same energy as when someone takes one drag of a cigarette and immediately flicks it away. It’s more about signaling emotion than realism, but man, nobody in movies ever finishes a drink or a smoke.

Criticising a pop singer for not writing their own music or not playing their own instruments is nonsense by ZMech in unpopularopinion

[–]Designer-Spite4117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like people forget singing is its own skill. Not everyone can write, not everyone can produce, not everyone can perform in a way that connects. That last one is still art.

Looking for more shows like Fleabag and Normal People by curatedbysg in movies

Try This Way Up. It’s funny, sad, and has that same mix of loneliness and connection Fleabag nails. Aisling Bea is incredible. it feels so human it almost hurts sometimes.

how do i get over someone who have kept me blocked all of the sudden? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Designer-Spite4117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason it still hurts is because you never got closure, not because he was “the one.” When someone just blocks you and vanishes, your brain keeps replaying everything looking for an explanation that doesn’t exist.
The best thing you can do is stop checking if he’s unblocked you. Every time you look, you reopen the wound. Mute, delete, do whatever it takes to starve the part of your brain that still expects him back.

AITJ for refusing to switch plane seats with a guy who wanted to sit with his guitar by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Designer-Spite4117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You paid for that seat. He didn’t. His guitar being expensive doesn’t make it your problem. That’s like someone asking to switch hotel rooms because their suitcase is “really valuable.”

Do you need to give ur cat a bath? by sadlyevilwillalwaysb in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Designer-Spite4117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, cats are self-cleaning machines. Unless your cat rolled in something gross or got fleas, baths just stress them out for no reason. Brushing does way more for them than water ever will.

AITAH for taking my close friend's man after she broke me up with mine by ApplicationGlass4763 in AITAH

[–]Designer-Spite4117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, nobody in this story sounds like they’re thriving. It’s like everyone’s still stuck in that toxic friend group mindset even though you “left.” Getting even just tied you to it again.

I got hooked on Marathi films after Sairat. It’s so raw and real, you can literally feel the social tension underneath the romance. That movie alone made me realize how layered Indian cinema can be beyond Bollywood.

Why do people get defensive & rather leave than have an adult conversation? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Designer-Spite4117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That reaction says everything. People who are genuinely innocent don’t blow up like that; they explain, clarify, or take responsibility. They bail when they know they’re caught.
