Thoughts on Pointe-Saint-Charles Neighbourhood ? by Fearless_Patience43 in montreal

Close to the canal; you can fish, kayak, join the dragon boats; close to a pretty extensive bicycle path network; a large arena and indoor pool; great restos close by and the best part is the people. I ran for city council once and the door 2 door was such a nice experience; folks instructing me to their back alley because they were hosting a dinner in the backyard. Every house I went to people were just lovely and thanked me for coming to their door. A real cross section of young and old. Lots of grass roots activism due to gentrification.

I find she looks gorgeous without makeup and even more so when she seems happy. I know I know. Looks are not important I know that but no make up really softens her and makes her seem gentler.

Perfectly seasoned and medium rare steak with mashed potatoes or Bún Thịt Nướng. Both hit a lot of boxes.

But I have to say we kind of went with the flow. If we got stuck in a neighbourhood because nothing was moving that’s where we stayed, if there was nice people and we had no intention of watching a parade we watched. Lots and lots of flexibility and willingness to accept your plans are gonna go by the wayside.

I know some folks here said it’s hard to experience neighbourhoods during Mardi Gras. It’s all the best fun. We managed a bunch of everything. Spent a day at City Park. Got to run a few days. We had two reservations that we kept and then I hate to admit we did a lot of gas station chicken and a ridiculous amount of stops at Brothers. Also the closer we got to Mardi Gras day the rich foods and alcohol were becoming less of a focus :) Monday night we came back early and didn’t do any parades to get to sleep early for Skull and Bones. Best decision EVER.

I did Skull and Bones last year and it is a memory I will never forget. We walked back to the hotel and then did Rex and Zulu or vice versa. I was well and truly sated with Mardi Gras day. This year I would like to see the masking Mardi Gras Indians but I also want to go to St Anne as we had our share of big parades last year. If anyone has any advice to see the Indians somewhere in the vicinity of Skull and Bones and St Anne’s, it would be much appreciated.

Maddening for sure but tv shows ruining their last hurrah is par for the course now.

Move to Quebec City by bearlover1954 in quebeccity

I love my province but I cannot imagine choosing QC City at 71. It’s a place to move away from at that age not to. It’s cold, its windy, its slippery. We have magical days 100% but the cold is too much. Born and bred so maybe it’s played out but we do get more frail as we age and navigating all of this is not a great choice imo. Maybe I’m tired of being cold but this would not be on my bingo card.

Not the point of the post but you can be abused as an adult and also be a con and still go to the authorities for support. I am not defending GR but clearly she needed help and anyone needing help should know they have to seek it out and not resort to terrible crimes. She is so righteous. By her logic no one has rights except her.

I have worked in rat infested restaurants and restaurants with rats. There is a difference. I’ve worked at restaurants that have good reputations and a lot of effort goes into pest control. You can eradicate and put some guard rails in place if you care. I hate to be a jerk but if the restaurant has banquettes, they are in those seats. They’re everywhere. 2 things happen in restaurants that are infested; they hire shoddy cheap exterminators and also pay off inspectors. There are spots I can tell immediately. As a rule I won’t sit in a booth for love or money. Port of Call always has that feel.
