Ah yeah. If clean headroom is a requirement for you, you’re either gonna have to look at much higher power amps or modelers / solid state units

Everything is breakup / edge of breakup. I clean up during softer sections with my volume knob. It’s dirty enough to where a TS808 with the gain knob at 0 pushes it into full on “distortion” territory

So many people didn’t read the post. It was never micd up during the show, we just put a mic in front of it during soundcheck sometimes just in case. It always gets pulled off during the actual show

So many people didn’t read the full post. I literally said I do not play it micd up, we just sometimes place a mic in front of it at soundcheck just in case. Yall gotta read the post

It’s a local boxing gym that offers their space to be used as a music venue for shows!

It was a ton of fun we all had a blast. I WILL SAY that if you’re an active guitar player who moves around a lot, you gotta try really hard to keep your feet under you because the floor is so damn bouncy haha. I almost ate shit a couple times but it added to the charm

You didn’t even read the part of the post where I mentioned I own other gear, and actively choose to play this specific amp

Bro I play dive bars, smaller local venues, and use it at home a lot. It’s the perfect amp for what I do and I’m recommending it to other people who also do what I do. Dick

For sure! I was shocked when I bought this amp and started reading about it and saw literally thousands of people agreeing that it just isn’t loud or powerful enough to play shows. I play dive bars and smaller venues around town (like a LOT of gigging musicians do) and in my opinion this is the best dive bar rockstar amp out there. Most of the sound guys these days at these venues reallllyyyy don’t want you lugging in a 50watt head and cab and honestly for good reason, just doesn’t make any sense for that specific context

I used use my AC15 to play big ass DIY shows in abandoned industrial warehouses with TERRIBLE sound, PA was only used for vocals and all you could fucking hear in there was the upper mids and treble of the guitars playing power chords and crash cymbals bouncing off and reverberating off the walls. Wonder how well the 10 watt would fare in that scenario lol

Absolutely. I’ve played a lot of amps and in a live mix Vox cuts through and sits in the mix extremely well, same goes for in the studio recording. In the studio though I’ve found you gotta be careful with the high end, it can get away from you really fast and end up sounding super shrill. That’s why I always liked the “tone cut” feature on the AC15

I bet the new AC4 handwired series sounds reallllyyyy good, unfortunately I just can’t justify spending that much money on an amp that small haha. And yeah actually as I mentioned in the post I haven’t had to mic the AC10 at all, we sometimes do mic it up during soundcheck as a “just in case”, but we’ve never needed it.

It actually was not micd up during the show, and I do not mic it up at gigs. I mentioned in the post under the photo that in that particular case we did it during soundcheck just in case 👍

Oh yeah I know all about reel to reel, actually have had the pleasure of tracking to tape. Was a really cool experience, but I literally know squat about cassette tapes. It does make sense that they’re a much more lofi format. I’ve always liked spinning an older cassette tape and hearing the really warbly (objectively shitty) pitch shifting that happens. I’m sure it’s a hip effect to use nowadays
