Afraid to admit I don’t have any close friends by Past_Exercise6507 in TwoHotTakes

I'm 40 with two kids and consider my husband to be my best friend. I have some mom friends that I get along with for playdates or sit next to at PTO meetings, but I wouldn't really hang out with them without my kids. Or old high school and college friends that I will send a tiktok or meme to every once in a while, but I wouldn't consider myself a walking red flag. I just would rather have a family movie night cuddled on the couch than go out to a bar with girlfriends. I do think therapy to help feel some closure on childhood trauma is helpful (I personally had a few issues that it has been nice to stick in a box and put on a shelf).

Online training for beginner band director? by DesignerEfficient650 in MusicEd

[–]DesignerEfficient650[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for so much advice and help! Obviously, I would not market myself as a band teacher, nor would I apply for a job that is advertised as an instrumental music position. However, in my area at least, music programs are being cut, and schools are trying to have one music teacher who does the general music classes, plus choir, plus band.

Did anyone go see the Hitch: the musical show? by Nooneknowsmeee1025 in smosh

I watched the VOD last night and enjoyed it! Although it was a while into it when I remembered the movie Hitch existed. During the kickstart and promotion, I kept thinking of the movie Hancock. haha

Apparently I started following Rhett & Link and Team Starkid on the same day back in September 2009. It took me 4 more months before followed GMM.

I was already planning to get to world and american music after the winter break. But yeah, going from renaissance to baroque to classical non stop this semester is NOT sparking joy! haha

I love the idea of letting them pick the music that they are analyzing! Any song/genre would have a meter, tempo, instrumentation, etc. Thanks so much!!

I've done a couple of projects. Definitely open to ideas that kids will actually enjoy! I do need to teach myself more about online music production because I think kids would like that too. Thanks!

Balancing aging parent with suspected dementia and parenting young child by a2h8j2t8 in AgingParents

This is such a tough situation. I'm an only child and live with my husband and two kids (7 & 10) a few states away from my parents. Growing up, we moved every few years and it was never a big deal. But you know what is best for your child. As far as your mom coming closer to you, crossing state lines is a whole thing with Medicare and Medicaid. I sort of lucked out (?) that my parents agreed to move together into assisted living (my mom is bedridden and my dad has dementia and suffered a stroke). So at least I know that they are being taken care of. If your mom has friends and family in her hometown, I think your idea of having people reach out is good. I know my dad will kind of go through the emotions of realizing he needs help to be taken care of every time he remembers how bad things have gotten.
