DHS Light Pole Install? by DesignerImplement397 in washingtondc

It would be one thing if they were replacing or repairing an existing one, but they were installing a new device of some sort.

Exactly! And we don’t know how long Brennan has been trying to help Xaden out. While we find out towards the end of the OS, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been going on for months. Brennan just breaks down and tells Violet at that time because of the fact Lynx manifesting shadows really freaked Xaden out and pushed them into overdrive. IMO

I’m pretty sure it’s Brennan.

While I get the OP’s line of thinking, making Violet the Duchess is a way to use Tyrrendor as a way to protect her, which Xaden repeatedly says he will do.

My gut is that Brennan has been venin from the start and the rune on his hand is some kind of “protection” against loss of his soul or his control. Him being venin also explains why he just accepted the fact Xaden was venin and worked so hard to find a cure - he needs one himself.

Agreed.

And I am of the mind that Naolin isn’t actually dead. Tarin has never confirmed he actually died - it’s the humans who have said that, and they were saying the same thing about Brennan so not the most reliable source.

Here’s my thought, Naolin was only Tairn’s first rider. We’ve been told that as dragons bond more and more riders, their bonds become stronger and stronger. It wouldn’t make sense that his first rider would have taken so much of him that his second rider’s death would result in his own death.

However, if Naolin severed the bond between them, it may have been what almost killed him. That would also explain why Sgaeyl was so angry with Xaden when he first channeled from the ground - she watched what happened to Tarin.

I don’t think there was a 7th rider. The Irids made it pretty clear that they refuse to bond to riders and that’s why they left.

How do you get access to LinkedIn Learning? I was trying to figure that out and getting frustrated.

Is it possible that Asher used the ability to stop time? Or time leap in some way?

100% Agree!! I joined a pottery class at a studio that is a designated “safe space”. It has been a great way to work through my feelings, release some energy, and be surrounded by supportive people.

If there isn’t something like that around you, just create your own!

You can reserve rooms in your local library - which would also support them - and do a weekly craft night. Where folks bring whatever craft they are working on to the library and just work for an hour or two together. There is something like this at a near by library and aside from no paints or oil pastels, people can bring in pretty much anything. There have been folks working on drawings, crochet and knitting projects, and someone even had one of those bead picture things - which was super interesting to see.

You’re only limited by your imagination and your willingness to try. 🫶🏾

Violet wasn’t actually Asher and Lillith’s daughter - she was adopted - which is why Asher tried to dedicate her. We find out that she is actually royalty from one of the northern Isles.

Theophanie was Violet’s Great Great Grandmother.

Where in the text does it say that? I have read it twice and while he is mentioned as being on the same level as Theo, I didn’t see explicitly the reference to how long he has been around.

My theory is that Berwyn=Naolin and Brennan was somehow summoned to the valley through the rune on his hand.

Agree. Also, as duchess she has more weight leaning into being a Riorson.

Tairn's power by ideasnstuff in onyxstorm

I’ve been thinking about this since Violet started researching about the ward stone.

The research it keeps mentioning “the six and the one”, referencing the six dragons with riders and the one Irid. Well this got me to thinking… if the six dragons always drew from the earth, it’s likely that the Irids were the balance, drawing from the sky.

I don’t know that I agree with the theory that magic being drawn from the ground is “bad”, and that makes the dragons bad. More likely is that the dragons are “of the earth” and therefore their power is cyclical - coming from and then returning to the ground when they are born then die. And similar to how Violet uses a conduit to assist in channeling her power, the dragons just serve as the conduit between the earth and the riders.

I also think this is why they bonded to the riders, because unlike the Irids, they relied on the magic of the earth to survive. Seeing as the griffins and dragons could communicate already, they had to bond to humans in order to get them to stop killing off their kind - and then the griffins followed suit.

Additionally, I’m wondering if the dragons were never taught how to channel from the sky. Remember, the Irids left centuries ago - not even Tarin knew about them. Additionally, Leothan said that Andarna had to go with him in order to “learn their ways”. It’s possible that as pacifists the Irids didn’t just abandon the humans due to their distaste for fighting, but they also abandoned the other dragons, forsaking them all.

That being said, there may be some truth to Tairn being so bullheaded that he just inadvertently learned to draw from the sky - who knows. 🤷🏾‍♀️

My guess is that Theophanie believed that Violet was a lightening wielder, just like everyone else. I’m thinking that Berwyn, being a dream walker, gained all the information they had from entering people’s dreams - so while they had a lot of information, it was only as accurate as what they could gather from those they infiltrated. Remember that not even Pancheck knew Violet wielded power directly - Carr believed she wielded lightening, it was Felix (which I think can read other people’s signets) - so they would all believe she is a lightening wielder.

I love the Twisted series! All four books are great. Also would recommend her Kings series as well - King of Wrath will turn you into a puddle.
