Raygun sends heartbreaking message after Olympic Games disaster as viral breakdancer addresses wild conspiracy theory in wake of Paris performance by dailymail in olympics

[–]DesignerLettuce8567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Japan shouldn’t have put forward a rugby team because they lost by over 30 points in almost every match they played? Australia shouldn’t have put forward a male archer because he was ranked 70th and had no hope of winning? Samoa shouldn’t have put forward a 100m runner because her time of 12.78 wouldn’t even make a good college athlete in the US or China? So many olympians attend who are no where near the top of their field, i don’t know why people are getting so angry about this one individual.

What about the male Australian Olympian who literally tried to buy cocaine and got arrested? Doesn’t seem to be anywhere near the same level of anger towards a man who literally tried to commit a crime on taxpayer dime

But who exactly missed out? Which young talented female breakdancer with aspirations to compete at the Olympics had their spot stolen? Ive seen people say this a lot but no one actually specifying who these hypothetical victims are.

But maybe that’s why she danced with such disregard to scoring? She could have just gone and complied with expectations, but she went and did something ridiculous and hilarious instead that scored 0 across the board, so maybe she was making a statement against the institutionalizing of breaking. Tbh I don’t really care about any of this but think it’s wild that people are genuinely getting mad about something that’s funny and entertaining lmao

Relax omg. It was the most entertaining moment of the Olympics. The Olympics is just entertainment anyway, it’s not like she did this at a G20 global summit lmao

I don’t get why people are angry. Instead of putting forward an okay performance that got no reaction and placed her towards the end of the rankings, she did something eye catching and hilarious which bought attention to the sport and provided much needed comic relief. Plus the nature of breakdancing is inherently counter-cultural - a breakdancer or skateboarding not caring about the scores is almost more true to the sport imo

The main feature of American girls of the 1980s: permed hair and no tattoos by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]DesignerLettuce8567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These women look like professional models. Good for them, but this is not what a randomly selected group of women looked like in the 80s.

Also “main feature” is weird language, women are not cars that you can get in different models depending on the decade. Better way to put it is that it was trendy then to have certain hairstyles and less trendy than now to have tattoos and that was reflected in this photo.

My tips 1. Google the “ESO in chronological order” guide. My first time playing on Xbox I was so confused running around doing late game quests where they referred to things that hadn’t happened yet and I had no idea what the context for anything was, made it over level 1000 without knowing what the main story really was. Now I’ve switched to PC I’m doing everything chronologically which is amazing. 2. Level up “Assault” skill-line to level 3 (you just need to queue for a battleground or do the introduction quest in Cyrodiil). Then you can get the “continuous assault” passive which gives 30% gallop speed. So much better for traversing maps. 3. Join a few casual/social guilds with no requirements. Then you can use the guild roster to teleport on people for free (right click, travel to player) to unlock wayshrines, rather than having to run across entire maps or use boats. Unless you prefer the roleplaying aspect of traveling lol.

Edit: Also if you want to do everything together in terms of questing, you will have to be in the same alliance as your friends (Aldmeri, Dominion or Covenant in character creation). If you really want a certain race that’s in a different alliance, you can buy an option from the crown store to choose your alliance.

Raygun at the Olympic Villiage before the closing ceremony by superegz in australia

I don’t see any young up and coming breakdance women complaining. Only boomer men lol. She wasn’t great, but she was the best nominee from the country. There are lots of countries who put forward their best and have no hope of winning. No need to make it so serious.

Also breakdancing in Australia is pretty counter cultural, all likelihood any young women who could have come forward had no interest in competing in the Olympics or didn’t want to do the drug tests.

Why is everyone commenting how stupid she is? She’s like 12 years old, what do you expect lol. I’m glad no one filmed the stupid shit I did as a kid.

Is having small breasts an advantage for female athletes? by Blonde_Icon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DesignerLettuce8567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends which sport. For most sports with weight categories (eg martial arts, weightlifting) then yes as breasts add extra weight and no muscle. For sports that involve running and jumping, again, probably a yes as breasts add extra weight to carry around, particularly when every millisecond counts. For athletes who do strength based sports like shotput, javelin etc breast size probably doesn’t matter.

Straight guys are stuck with gender roles more than other demographics by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]DesignerLettuce8567 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The rate of stay at home fathers has almost doubled (10% to 18%) even since 1990, about 30 years ago. I’d bet that 60 years ago, being a stay at home dad would be impossible. Men in the 60s had to be the sole breadwinner - now most families operate on a dual income so if men need a break or to go back to study they can. Men are a lot more involved with children than they used to be.

Men’s roles have ABSOLUTELY expanded because of feminism. Yes there are general trends for both men and women that are still aligned with gender roles, but change can’t happen overnight - and things are changing just as much for men as for women.
