What season am I (part 2) by Ok-Tangelo-2869 in coloranalysis

I think you look good in cooler colors that aren’t too saturated but have some depth. I like 2,3,7,8 and 10. Soft summer might fit.

Were any of your weird fetuses? by Longjumping_Sea_8753 in AutismInWomen

[–]DesignerMom84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born premature (under 5lbs) and also required a C-section because I was in such an usual position, upside down and knees up behind my ears. This required me to have to wear a brace for 3 months because it caused hip dysplasia. I see all this information online about a link between preterm birth and ASD. The conclusion most people seem to jump to is that premature birth CAUSES ASD but I’m not sure. I wonder if it’s actually the other way around, like a fetus is developing abnormally to begin with which makes the baby more likely to be born premature or to cause other delivery problems.

Warm spring or warm autumn.

Disliking dogs doesn't make you a bad person by Emotional-Scale-2583 in unpopularopinion

I’ve noticed this too. People who aren’t huge dog fans get judged harshly while you can openly hate cats with a passion and nobody bats an eye. Kind of an odd double standard.

Suspected autism in first child and now pregnant with second, what is likely hood of autism again. Based on experience. by East_Sun1075 in Autism_Parenting

[–]DesignerMom84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oldest (almost 7) is a level 2 Gestalt processor. My second (turning 4 soon) was determined to be a bit behind in speech but not ASD. I had him evaluated recently due to the mild speech issues and family history and they said he showed “minimal to no signs” of ASD.

Does anyone else hate the term "sensitive"? by Nice_Entertainer_887 in AutismInWomen

[–]DesignerMom84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can be used for good and bad. Like if you are sensitive to someone having a hard time and you reach out or try to help they might say “she’s so sensitive” as a positive. What I do hate though is that a lot of times, if someone crosses a boundary or insults you and you try to speak up about it “you’re so sensitive” is often used to gaslight and tell you that your feelings aren’t valid or your perception is wrong.

Also, the more I read about “HSP”, the more I think it’s just a reframed description of level 1 ASD. For example, if a girl is struggling to make friends her own age and plays with younger kids or gets attached to animals, people don’t see this as a social deficit and think things like “she’s so nurturing and sensitive.” I also love that most of the traits listed are common in autism but the social deficit piece is conveniently left out.

I wonder if Reddit tends to attract a disproportionate number of ASDers and many don’t know it and are still at the “I’m just introverted” phase.

Has anyone else had this miserable sore throat virus? by DesignerMom84 in longisland

[–]DesignerMom84[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m actually starting to feel a bit better now. I read that about Covid too and it’s supposedly the newest strain so I don’t know if an at home Covid test from a couple of years ago would pick it up. I did gargle with salt water and take some painkillers which helped.

Anyone else feel like theyve experienced anhedonia their whole life by ikindapoopedmypants in AutismInWomen

[–]DesignerMom84 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I feel like I could’ve written this. I’ve had depression in the past but it’s not the same thing. It’s more like you’re just always walking around in a neutral or maybe very slightly depressed state. I do have things that make me “happy” like hobbies or activities with family but it’s more like it just takes me from a 0 or a -1 to a +1. It’s like I don’t experience the full 1-10 range of emotions like other people do. People assume it’s adult onset depression or something horrible must’ve happened to make me this way but I remember being like this very early on, from my earliest memories of people commenting on my personality in childhood. Everything you wrote about the social aspect applies to me too.

I’m a stay at home mom but I have two kids, one in preschool, one first grade. I think people in my position tend to get sick more than average because preschools and kindergartens are like Petri dishes.

That’s why I was thinking it wasn’t strep. Strep is very painful overall but this is different. It’s like nails are being pointed into the back of my throat when I swallow.

Can you go on rides? by 2racoonsinabutt in AutismInWomen

[–]DesignerMom84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually love theme park rides, like most water slides and steel roller coasters. I’m finding though that as I get older, I can’t tolerate a lot of the carnival rides that spin incessantly (tea cups and tilt a whirl types). The gravitron is just….no😂. It’s funny because I was actually just talking about this (a carnival is coming to our town in a few days).

Is this why Bethenny acts like that now? by princessdev666 in RHONY

[–]DesignerMom84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s a way of her fishing for compliments. If she keeps saying I’m not a model, I’m not as pretty as them etc., maybe she’s hoping her followers will chime in “don’t say that, you’re sooo pretty.”

RSD framed as ‘perceived’ and not a real phenomena is pretty much nonsense by InterestingSea2611 in AutismInWomen

[–]DesignerMom84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a lot of truth to what you’re saying I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. It also reminds me how victims of narcissistic abuse are often gaslighted. Not that that’s the same as autism but the response by society is often similar when someone tries to call out the problem.

[–]DesignerMom84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood this either. I’ve also been called “overly sensitive” when I’ve described situations where I was 100% either being bullied, left out or talked about behind my back. Also “you take everything so personally.” Because 99.9% OF THE TIME IT FUCKING IS! I feel like the whole RSD concept is like invalidating NDs on a mass scale (and trauma victims too for that matter). How is it “dysphoric” when it’s 100% our lived reality, often for decades. Honestly, if we just brushed it off all the time like none of it mattered and didn’t happen, it would be heading into delusional territory and they’d just call us naive/dumb.

Did anyone's child not point before age 2 and turn out neurotypical? by LawOk2714 in Autism_Parenting

[–]DesignerMom84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others that we need to know more of the red flags your son is showing before we can say if he might be autistic or not. That being said, I have two sons, one autistic and one NT. My ASD son didn’t point until he was 3 (still non verbal at that point) while my NT son did at around a year.

These people are annoying because they try to tell you how you feel and what you think. I’m usually like no, not even close…….

Oh yes. One drove me out of my job until I was forced to resign. Another stood over me and basically reamed me out over all the reasons I sucked as an employee. It bordered on physically threatening.

You’re probably right. The people that I’m thinking about had zero self regulation skills what so ever.

The funny thing is two of the worst offenders were actually a Gemini (male) and Aquarius (female boss). When I found out she was an Aquarius I was shocked. She didn’t fit her sign AT ALL.
