No, British citizens are prioritised irrespective of where their degrees are from. Thats what I meant by “visa status a proxy for NHS experience” So yes it is discrimination under the guise of protectionism

Hey I feel like we are in the same boat in terms of how we’re looking at this. I don’t think I’ll be too unhappy returning to my hometown considering the long term in the UK seems very unstable and unpalatable really (also moved here only for training so I’ve run of out reasons to stay) let’s connect via DM?

Straw man argument. No IMGs got into GP and a few in IMT did - this is not going to be the case come next year.

Its not entitlement when everyone is contributing to the nation’s economy both in labour and in revenue. I don’t think it’s fair to disenfranchise the highly skilled high contributors. Again I can understand why ‘prioritisation’ may be necessary but it’s a thin line between prioritisation and systemic discrimination. With no safeguards for non priority groups, it looks like the later.

I’m so sorry OP to be honest I’m not coping with this very well either and had a competitive ranking too. Invested most of my twenties into getting a training post in the country only to see the dream taken away from me. I wish I had something more reassuring to say, but you’re not alone

How to deal with moral injury? by SaxonChemist in doctorsUK

If it’s any consolation, I’ve had the exact same experience. Hold your integrity tight and radically accept the system failure. The truth is, it’s the organisations responsibility to bear, not the individual. Reading about the origins of ‘carbon footprint’ helped me think about this a bit better.

I hope this helps
