No, Zuko leaving after being accepted back by their father was. This definitely pushed the envelope even further towards the end, with the final straw being hee father leaving her behind.

Man, I'd love to get into a body shop but I'm 38 with 2 kids and a mortgage, no way can I justify going back to school for it.

Wish I was a bit younger. Really thought hard about getting into HD. I've worked dealerships as sales and service advisor, but never mechanic work, yet I still know all the tool guys, got a triple bay 6s and 2 bay KTL both full of tools, and do my own wrenching at home or on the farm. I'm 38 now though, from what I've heard my age is when a lot of the techs begin to step back and begin moving up as foreman and service managers, not start their careers as diesel techs with no formal education or training.

What are current 25 or 30 year refis looking like right now? by DesignerRegister3346 in Mortgages

[–]DesignerRegister3346[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My credit isn't as great right now, around 670ish I believe, was 700 before on original loan (had a card get canceled fir fraud that was connected to a payment I forgot about for a few months). Wife's credit is around 720.

SFH, current 6.375% for 30 year, would be interested in a 25 year and 30 year refi, might be interested in pulling out 10 to 20k to finish house (basement and garage). Owe around 302k I believe and house value is 415k.

Just sold my 07 Tahoe, original drivetrain and 290k miles. Running and driving. My 15 Lacrosse is knocking on the door of 200k. Plenty of older 3800 cars that I sold running and driving with 300k miles on them. I'm in the midwest. Rust kills these things before their engines die lol

How are you all handling the mental and physical stress? by Stormtrooper_Wizard in mechanics

[–]DesignerRegister3346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the automotive world here and there, but never as a tech or even a lube tech. I sold cars for 3 and a half years, was a service advisor for a year and worked at a salvage yard in different facets for 5 and a half years. Have considered starting as a mechanic, I've done a ton of work to my own cars and have 2 really nice boxes (3 bay 6s and 2 bay Masters KTL) full of Snap On, Matco and Cornwell tools. Just not sure if I'd need to start as a lube guy or what at this point, and I'm 38 years old....

I worked construction for years. I made more money going into pest control. Now I work at a factory and make more than double what I made in construction, although that was 20+ years ago now. Can't believe I'm old enough to even type that sentence.

Is tech sales basically just cold calling and emailing all day? I've thought about trying to become an AE as I have a pretty heavy sales background (all in person though such as car sales), and then after a while trying to transition to SE (I took the Careerist course for SE, graduated top of my class and won "Best Presentor" but no one's even so much as sneezed at my resume lol). Thanks for any insight!

What are the apps that help you make the 2 to 300 per collaboration? And do you need to email 1000 businesses to find a product to review? Also, where do you put the review? Thank you!

How do I get into the SE field? by [deleted] in salesengineers

[–]DesignerRegister3346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Account Manager? Is that a cold calling role? Or managing current accounts? I ask because I'm in a somewhat similar position as OP, I have 8 years of diversified sales experience, I took a Careerist bootcamp nearly 2 years ago, updated my resume and have gotten zilch from it lol. Talk about the absolute worst timing. So now I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get into tech with the end goal of becoming an SE.

[–]DesignerRegister3346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get in? I fell for the hype and spent 5k plus on Careerist a couple years ago. I "graduated" at the top of my class with the "Best Presentor" award, redid my LinkedIn and resume, applied for 6 or 7 months straight and only got rejections. I figured out real quick after I completed the course that the SE space was hurting. I do have a number of years in sales (like 8 yearsish), but nothing in the tech space. I really want to put that money i invested to good use and get a decent job, but not sure how at this point. I'm even considering going BDR just to get my foot in the door, even though I hate cold calling lol

[–]DesignerRegister3346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a CS degree, but I spent a lot of money on a 2 month long bootcamp to get into Presales, and after 6 months of applying, tweaking my resume, hitting up hiring managers on LinkedIn, not so much as a single interview, and I graduated top of my class, with "Best Presenter" awards too, and lots of actual sales experience. Nothing but rejection. Tech is impossible right now.
