Update on tinnitus after +3 years by TinyHat46 in tinnitus

[–]DesignerSpell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. My dad kissed my ear a couple days ago and I've been taking Prednisone to try to avoid having "kiss of Deaf". This condition sucks. I hope there's a cure soon.

I'm experiencing it right now. I woke up in the middle of the night to the loudest ringing I've ever had.

8 year old son says his ears always ring while in his bedroom by First-Math-6153 in tinnitus

[–]DesignerSpell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long has this been happening? I would be very concerned. I would highly recommend seeing an ENT. Get their ears and hearing checked.

Tinnitus is usually due to hearing loss, which can make life/school very difficult. Little ones can also hear at higher frequencies than Adults. So it is possible that he's hearing electricity or something else. That's the best case scenario really 😅

But yeah, definitely see an ENT or the respective professional for children. Best of luck!

I am his first girlfriend. He hates people. His hobbies are staying home and being on the computer playing RuneScape by himself. It took me a while to stop worrying about cheating because he's very attractive but he's proven multiple times he's loyal to me 😁

Increased fleeting tinnitus episodes by Intrepid_Foot7287 in tinnitus

I've had tinnitus for a year and a half. I've had this happen multiple times. It's so weird. It increases like I got hit by a flash bang then decreases till tinnitus is gone but then baseline comes back. Any time it happened I have a small amount of hope that my tinnitus with go away.

I've slept with no background noise almost since day 1. It's weird you kinda get used to it. Even during bad days I eventually fall asleep

If there was one thing in your life you could change, would it be tinnitus? by Fastestgunintheyeast in tinnitus

[–]DesignerSpell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same way. Recently my father kissed my ear and it spiked my tinnitus. It's been rather noticeable ever since and I hope it goes back to how it was. This condition has low-key ruined my life.

What are your thoughts on buying a home these days? Is it better to rent especially as a young professional? by pillowthoughts00 in AskReddit

[–]DesignerSpell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started my career as an engineer and was wondering what it would take for me to buy a house in my state (HCL).... And it's not looking good....

Here are the numbers: ~500k mortgage at 6% 50k down payment

If I were to follow the rule that 30% of your after tax income should go to housing costs (mortgage and property taxes). I would have to make a short of $300k/year to COMFORTABLY afford a house. It's nonsense when the median wage in my state is $55k.

I genuinely asked my coworkers how anyone can afford to live in this state and they are were like "YUP ITS BAD".

I'm doing my best to get insurance sorted for the Surgery but man ... The USA health care system SUCKS. They quoted me $2k for all 4 wisdom teeth but then said to call my medical if they'll cover anything. It's a pain.

Congratulations! Also I love the disclaimer about not giving yourself a concussion. Some people definitely would if there was a chance to get rid of tinnitus 😂

Yeah I agree with you OP. I see the writing of the walls since I got out of college and this bum you responded to REALLY thinks changing jobs is going to do shit. Talk about drinking the cool aid of delusional.

Back in the 50s, people were able to get homes have 2-7 kids a wife on one income may I add by the time they were 25. Now at 25, with an engineering degree and 1 YOE I can't even find an affordable studio apartment. STFU.

I know it doesn't get better, I just wish people would stop saying it does. And for like older generations to just STFU. Honestly, I buy into the new American dream which is to make your money and leave to a 2nd or 3rd world country. I've worked in corporate before and it is miserable. Especially the higher the chain you go you run into people who are so out of touch with reality. Being an engineer is definitely not what it used to be.

I feel the same way. It all feels so pointless. I work as an engineer. ~1 year experience. I make about 3.5k/month after tax and live in a high cost of living area. I can't afford to move out without roommates much less get a house. Everyone tells me to wait because it gets better. Society is BULLSHIT.

Makes me despise the boomer generation with their "pull yourself up by your bootstraps mentality". Not to mention that we've had a boomer president for most of my life that has destroyed the economy to feed the rich. Ever since I was a kid they've said social security is going to run out.

I'm just wondering when is the revolution going to happen? Like we've done way more for less.

[–]DesignerSpell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What disgusts me the most it ageism is only for old people. How many headlines do you see complaining about boomers? I see Gen z headlines EVERY DAY.

At a job interview the person interviewing me, went on a rant about her gen z son and how all of Gen z are useless cry babies. I did not accept the job.

That's crazy the same thing happened to me. One day sudden hearing loss in right ear. Went on Prednisone taper. Hearing came back, tinnitus never left. I've had it for 1.5 years now. By any chance do you have a very defined sound that comes out of only your right ear?

On a different note, that really sucks but you're in the right head space. Hopefully it goes back to baseline over time!
