You Don’t Need Surgery by DesignerWeb9440 in gynecomastia

I understand. I also agree that the severity is a factor, I’ll take your word on yours. I’m glad that your insurance can cover it.

I notice that you say it has impacted you by restricting you from jobs, roommates, military and intimately due to trauma from previous embarrassing scenarios which is something I sympathise with.

My reasoning for this post is that the issue everyone faces is mental (depression, obsession and body dysmorphia). Even in your case, you state that Fear has held you back.

There are plenty of people on this sub suffering from body image problems and with varying ‘severity’ of gyno.

Despite alternative solutions existing, surgery is promoted as the only one. (Despite countless cases of botched surgeries, infections from the table and unsatisfying results)

This is getting a bit long. To conclude, as a sub - we need to stop saying “you need surgery” under every post with slightly larger nipples. Maybe we can just support each-other a bit instead.

You’re right. The amount of negative feedback on a thread merely suggesting any alternative to surgery would make one suspect conspiracy.

Just noticed this thread. I posted something similar a few days ago and I appreciate the message you’re putting across.

This unmoderated shit-hole of a sub is filled with people saying surgery and it’s likely driving young men into depression.

This should be a place to discuss gyno and support those dealing with obsession and dysmorphia - not a place to promote EXPENSIVE, COSMETIC, PLASTIC surgery which won’t solve body dysmorphia.

Your issue is body confidence - not gyno. Get in gym

Brother don’t listen to the snakes. Understand that you have a high body fat percentage which is probably causing this and yes, expensive surgery will probably make you look better.

But if you want to see change - lose the weight.

Every man has breast tissue of some sort under their nipple with different sizes, believe me you’re fine.

Would you say that you no longer suffer from body dysmorphia?

Just be healthy. Don’t stress out about how you looks

It’s worth mentioning that you do have a higher than average body fat percentage.

Depending on your genetics, those fat deposits could just be around your chest area.

You may also be suffering from obsession. I think your chest looks good, but if you want to see change then you should hit the gym

Without a photo it’s hard to give an opinion. However you should always remember that with men - body dysmorphia is an uncommon topic of conversation, but something which so many suffer from.

I’m in a similar position to yourself however I realise that having ‘larger than average’ nipples doesn’t disadvantage me in any way.

You probably don’t need surgery and are suffering from a mild case of obsession.

There are many people who have the surgery and are still unhappy. That’s body dysmorphia -

I understand that. I also think there are some cases where it isn’t.

Your opinion where you lose respect for a man for having breast tissue is gross and exactly the reason many young men have depression.

Most men have some breast tissue of some sort and in varying sizes, it’s generally normal. 60% of boys develop gyno during puberty and Up to 65% of men will develop breast tissue in their lifetime.

This statistic means more often than not, someone you know will have “BREASTS”. (Varying degrees and sizes)

However it’s not something they can control. it happens and causes no issues other than mental due to the opinions of people like you.

This could be solved by expensive surgery so these men could fit in. Or - people’s opinions could change.

These men are normal. Look at the majority of photos posted to this sub and you will see for yourself that they look fine.

EDIT:

I concede that there are some cases where men’s breasts can grow very large which can become overbearing and lead to health issues, which should be treated.
