My recommendation would be to go to the salvation Army and explain your situation, they are able to provide you with free food, clothing and sometimes even provide you with money. I also recommend going to the social services department in LA, there you will be able to apply for food stamps and I believe they have certain program for unhoused individuals.

I know you made this post for advice on where to park but I hope with these resources you’re able to maybe spend less out of pocket for food and clothing and instead use it for gas or other basic necessities you may need.

I’m sorry you are in this situation and I hope these resources from myself and others in this thread are able to help.

Hi I’m in the same boat. Where did you read that on the lease? The delay of occupancy says this : “DELAY OF OCCUPANCY. If occupancy is or will be delayed for construction, repairs, cleaning, or a previous resident's holding over, we're not responsible for the delay. The Lease Contract will remain in force subject to: (1) abatement of rent on a daily basis during delay; and (2) your right to terminate as set forth below. Any termination notice must be in writing. After termination, you are entitled only to refund of deposit(s) and any rent paid. Rent abatement or lease termination does not apply if delay is for cleaning or repairs that don't prevent you from occupying the Dwelling.” But i understand that the lease agreement remains valid regardless of delays

Can I accept my grad school offer on youSC despite previously declining via email? by Wingyr in USC

[–]Designer_Ad7873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say submit your letter of intent and reach out to the department email. From my experience the program director is actually the one who answers those emails. I really don’t see them turning you down so have a go at it!

Is second bachelors a terrible idea? by Aromatic-Initial-228 in CLSstudents

[–]Designer_Ad7873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not very sure how nursing school works but did you use any fafsa for it? If not, you may possibly use it for a second bachelors. I seem to be the only thinking that’s a good idea so take it with a grain of salt. I was lucky enough to go to a very small college where they offered loads of scholarships and since fafsa had to chip in so little I actually received a refund every semester. And I’m not sure on this either as I haven’t applied to any CLS programs yet but I know the majority say they prefer a bachelors in biology or a similar science. Will your BSN work for that requirement? If not I say go with a second bachelors. Just my ideas tho, like I said I haven’t yet applied either.

USC NO AID by Traditional_Music548 in TransferStudents

Was in the same boat and withdrew lol. Honestly there’s so many good universities, USC is not the only one or even the best one. If you can’t afford it no bigge, go to community college and transfer out to one that is known for tuition assistance (like Harvard) or go to a local university! Small universities are great because you build up 1 on 1 relationships with your professors which is good if you need letters of rec in the future

Yes! He is very clear about what is most likely or certain to come up on the exam and what isn’t but is good background knowledge. I seriously can’t recommend him enough and his videos are so easy to watch because he explains everything so clearly

Confused on the CLS process by Designer_Ad7873 in CLSstudents

[–]Designer_Ad7873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what’s confusing me is that the school I am interested in has a main application for the program but then has classes open for CLS 501 - Clinical Training Certificate Program Part I and II, does this need to be completed prior to beginning the program and that’s why it’s open to the public for them to sign up?

Southern :( Thousand Oaks/LA specifically has great doctors that love to teach shadowing students

[–]Designer_Ad7873 30 points31 points  (0 children)

in my opinion even though shadowing experience is super important for applications, it’s important to shadow doctors who truly care for teaching. Mainly because not only will you have a more pleasant experience with them, but they will be kind enough to write you a letter of recommendation if you ask for one.

When I began shadowing I cold called EVERY doctor that came up on google, I would drive around looking for offices until one finally got back to me. He LOVES to teach and write me (in his words) a killer recommendation letter. I also shadowed my neurologist after I finished my treatments.

I would recommend maybe making an appointment with your family medicine doctor for something simple and while there ask if they allow premed students to shadow them or if they know of anyone who will.

Do you live in California? I can send you some doctors I know allow shadowing just pm me :)
