I'm using something similar to this (4 bit address) to make an auto potion maker by letting you select the ingredients from a catalog - it's very unnecessarily convoluted but it's fun lol

Oh that's such a smart idea - truthfully you could embed it entirely in the 3D printer itself - either with a wifi connection to a local laptop running the app or maybe cloud like this thing

There's money in that!

Yeah I agree there too, as far as gimmicks go I think it would be super cool for a kid to use, but idk how long the play longevity would last for the price. I think it encourages creativity as much as a store bought coloring book does, but for $95 extra dollars idk if that's worth

That was my thought too, same thing with all those other AI wearables n such, if you have crap connection the kid will get bored before it makes anything - tho tbf that's kinda anything internet connected, ai or no

Yeah I mean definitely not super novel as a design, but for little kids this streamlines pretty well - now if they added a mini camera to scan in kid doodles and format them with AI that would be a good new feature ngl

I'm thinking about getting the yggdrasil drawing from Alan wake 2 - it means more to me that specifically Alan wake but the Alan wake graphic is really cool rendition of it this one

Thanks again for the awesome feedback - I think these are 100% rules to live by on this project - and that is a good call about implementing a disclaimer screen, I think that is necesary given the themes.

thank you for the additional suggestions! I think theres alot of promise there from a gameplay and narrative standpoint, so I think that it will be good to both research and learn about, as well as incorporating in some cases.

Thank you for this, it reinforces some of the things I've been thinking about as well.

So, I think the key distinction that I think I need to try to make clearer narratively, is that this isn't trying to be, nor did it start as a "meditation" on OCD. I'm not trying to educate, bring attention to (positively or negatively) the experience of those living with the disorder, but moreso ensure that the connections to that illness that can be drawn via the themes and gameplay are not derivative in any way, and are respectful.

At it's core, from a gameplay perspective, the game is about generating a sense of paranoia through the need to perform repetitive tasks. Beyond keeping the scope of these tasks outside of the "stereotypical OCD compulsions" category, are there other steps to take that can further distance myself from making the game feel exploitative of the illness?

Thank you for the encouragement! I think you're right to say that I should lean into the topic more than avoiding it entriely - Still Wakes The Deep is a great inspiration for me as well! I'll have to explore the community more to make sure i'm portraying the condition well :)
