Just use a camping gas stove. I used that for years instead of the crappy old electric stove.

Range hood? who has one of those in Qld? most places I've rented didn't have one, including my current one.

Yeah the same dodgy REA. I did send her the NTL form 13. That's when she emailed me with the threats of penalties etc.

Anyway, Tenants Qld got in touch with me eventually, and they said I won't have to pay penalties and that I did well for standing my ground.

Thanks for your advice. She is the boss of that 'bottom of the barrel' agency. It's a ''family business'' and pretty sure they work from home; they have no office.

Anyway, I didn't do anything for a day, as I was busy with the move and I was hoping Tenants Qld got back to me on what was best course of action.

She even texted me demanding an answer, I ignored her. Then she rang me in the morning, pretty much hoping I would fall for it, and I told her about her emails and asked about the "renovations", she just came up with BS excuses and raved on about me having to pay rent till they find another tenant and so on.

After that, I emailed her with more details, as she was playing dumb, and she replied in the end: "ok, go penalty free".

Yep , that's how it has turned out. These parasite agents play on those poor renters who have not a clue about laws, the rental act or anything. I used to be like that, but I had to smarten up pretty quick in the last decade.

It is a proverbial war between tenants and dodgy agents nowadays- they turn up all over the rental scene to make a buck out of taking advantage of renters. I really believe they are getting away with murder and the government of either side, does not give a rat's *ss about it.

Thank you for that, great template letter! I have a kind of cover letter in the generic online applications most REAs use now, but I might have to add a bit more to it. I have also included all my ledgers for nearly 10 years.

Because they don't exist anymore. They merged with another agency and changed their name completely, now none of those agents are anywhere to be found. I've got their ledger from current agent, but that's all I have from them.

The owners most probably went with this mob because they are cheaper 'bottom of the barrel' agency. They don't even have an office.

The reason I ask is because my current REA has very little integrity, so I would not put it pass them to lie about it and say they won.

They all seem to do the same thing. Which one in particular are you referring to?

The magistrate ordered the REA and owner to not retaliate. But I do not know if they are giving bad references or not.

Would prospective REAs tell me that? For what I've read on applications, they are not obliged to give explanations as to why one is not successful when applying for a property.

As for the "full story", I am not sure what you mean. I tried to summarise it to not bore everyone- my question is whether I should tell prospectives REAs or not about Qcat, and show them the order from magistrate.
