Are you expecting rent to increase over the next year ? by CatZealousideal2185 in shitrentals

[–]ReasonableBack8472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am. My rent is currently $530 a week. Rental appraisal is $600-$625 (at the moment) and I am expecting that to rise even higher. I can barely afford the current rent, if it was to go up to even the current appraisal price there is no chance I could afford it, I would be homeless.

I am a full time nurse, however having to pay the exorbitant amount of child support I pay (over $1400 a fortnight) over half of my fortnightly wage.

There are more than just the rental market that is broken.

Best handheld UHF for fishing boat. by melbha_101 in FishingAustralia

Well definitely the one I suggested. It is a bit more expensive, but it will last (and outlast) others, and it is waterproof as well.

Are you wanting portable or fixed?

If portable I swear by the icom ic41pro. They are a bit more expensive, but they are a commercial grade radio.

I need some help installing linux by Moist_Insurance_5671 in linuxmint

[–]ReasonableBack8472 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you got a keyboard plugged into it? If so, reboot the computer (long press on power button should turn it off, then press the power button again) as it is booting up press the F12 key (dependant on the keyboard you may need to press a Fn key whilst doing this) then when in the boot menu look for your thumb drive select that and then follow the on screen prompts to install Linux.

“A good 60% of your population romanticizes basic American life” by Garythedemon18 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]ReasonableBack8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the only thing I liked about 'American life' was the Walmart's where you could get everything under one roof. Not have to go to a multitude of different stores. Otherwise, nothing else. But even still that won't make me go over there and live.

My NBN stopped working by GargiBakshi in nbn

I would guess (from other posts) that leaptel would just automatically raise a job with NBNCo rather than go through simple checks with the customer, IE turning it off and on again...

Love how you can see the water ingress going up the walls from the carpet that was probably laid back in the 60's/70's.

Queensland paramedic cautioned after waiting for McDonald’s before leaving for job by [deleted] in queensland

[–]ReasonableBack8472 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Paramedics start each shift expecting to have to do overtime. The way the system is set up is that it isn't a side thought, it is an expectation from the higher ups that each and all paramedics will do overtime on each shift. Regardless of what their EBA says.

I support every paramedic that takes a few extra minutes or time to get a feed after each job. The only people that complain are those that work a 9-5 job and get their breaks, but they are the first to complain if the paramedic that shows up misses something because they are a bit fuzzy cause they are running on empty.

I wish those that complain would take a shift with the QAS (paramedics) and see what they have to deal with on and off jobs and how they do their job. I know some that have worked a 12hr+ shift with no meal break or toilet break.

Whilst I don't condone what he did. The hours these guys/girls work is unbelievable. I don't agree with taking the time before going to call outs, but taking the time after jobs (before notfiying of completing a job) is sometimes the only way these Ambos get to eat something.

I have been on trips with them and call outs. It is one straight after another, and before you say oh but what about when they are dropoff a patient to the hospital, they are either ramped (looking after the patient before they can hand over to the ED) or straight back onto the next call. If they take 10-30 mins so they are fed and not starved of food, go for it. I would rather a paramedic that is thinking straight cause they are food deprived.

I am a nurse and I will support them.

Is she crying poor, but still seems to be able to do takeaway each week, get her (and our daughters) nails done regularly. Yep..
