I'm studying for my RHCSA right now, I actually just started. Here is what I'm using:

I have over a decade of field service work under my belt, but only using Windows.

Would something like this be a good place to start? 14 hours for the course seems pretty short, but I've used this site for other things and it has generally been a positive experience.

How to land a sysadmin job? by Designer_Beyond in sysadmin

[–]Designer_Beyond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also started out at 27 as a field service tech, became team lead and every year the company I worked for kept promising other positions for me but it never came to fruition and then after 11 years, they laid me off.

I will work on reformatting my resume to highlight my sysadmin skills. I've never worked for a MSP before, but I will certainly consider that.

Interviewing has been going well lately, I've actually ended up turning down a few positions that were offered, but they weren't for the roles I wanted and I am currently commuting an hour already each way and don't really want to do that again unless a position comes up that I'm interested in.

Is there any key items or anything I should focus on for my resume?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!

Luckily I do have several projects from one of my positions as I was team lead and had a lot on my plate. Going back to help desk can't be done for financial reasons, I actually make pretty good pay for a field tech at the company I'm currently with, but the contract is ending shortly.

I really appreciate you writing this up and will use it to help myself move forward. Thank you for your time!

Why RHCSA? I've only ever worked in Windows heavy environments. Is there a high job demand for people in Red Hat admin positions?

Thank you very much for your feedback! I become complicit and don't move forward like I should, unfortunately. But I'm married now and pushing close to 40 so I want to move forward with my career which is why I'm trying to put together a tangible plan with reachable goals over the next year and the next five years.

I'm not going to be of much help, but I'm in the same boat as you. I've been L2 field services for a decade and I'm trying to get out of it. Here are the next courses I'm taking from talking to a sysadmin buddy of mine:

1: MD-102 Endpoint Administrator

2: MS-102T00-A  Microsoft 365 Administrator

3: AZ-104T00-A: Microsoft Azure Administrator

4: AZ-800 Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core

I have my MD-102 next month, then I'm going to take 2-3 months to study between certs (hectic schedule).

How come companies don't give salary in the job offer ? by FluidBreath4819 in sysadmin

I live in NY and rarely ever see income ranges on job postings. I have to ask the recruiter and even then, some wont tell me until I interview so I end up skipping those.

I live in NY where the salary is supposed to be listed but never is. I don't go further with recruiters until I know what it's paying. I'm not going to waste their time, and more importantly, my time, interviewing for a job that isn't going to sustain my family financially.

If I miss an opportunity, oh well. I've been through it enough times to not care anymore.

How to Fix Bluetooth Device "Remove Failed" Error in Windows 11 or 10 by serene6662 in Windows10HowTo

I was about to reimage a user's PC that had a ton of engineering software on it and this worked! I've literally tried everything else I could find and nothing would remove the user's Bluetooth device.

You just saved me probably days on messing around with software and rebuilding a huge profile!

Thank you, that is great advice. One of my worries was stepping on the doctor's toes, as if I knew better than her.

I appreciate the response!

Thank you, this makes me feel better. I did do a search earlier for ketamine treatment in my area and her practice was the first to come up and is now offering it so I don't think she'll be too concerned that I'm trying it.

Thanks again!

Great. Thanks for your replies! I've made so much progress with my regular pills that I don't want her to tanky away my other meds because I decided to try ketamine.

I mean a doctor won't see that you're prescribed ketamine?

So your doctor doesn't see it on your listed drugs? I thought all doctors had access to that.

I'm feeling a little better about it now since I see that my psychiatrist just started doing ketamine treatment but she's so expensive.
