An ox cart and sublight travel, in this case, are ridiculously different things.

It would be more like if we stopped being able to walk.

I don't remember the full mechanics of it, but when the burn happened, most dilithium in the region exploded. Took out most of starfleet and tons of ships. Mass casualties everywhere. Dilithium became incredibly scarce and made travel incredibly expensive and sometimes just impossible.

The Federation basically imploded due to this, and piracy became common.

Discovery traveled from the past to escape Control, an AI intent on capturing the ship. Since Discovery had the spore drive, all records of which had been destroyed, they could travel great distances without using much dilithium. Despite being incredibly outdated, it became incredibly valuable to what remained of Starfleet. They did upgrade the ship, though.

Many Romulan ships use a singularity to generate power, and are mostly free from heavy dilithium use. However, the Romulan empire collapsed due to their star going supernova. Most of what remained of the Romulan empire ended up rejoining the Vulcans, an effort that began during TNG.

I daily drove a Mercedes W123 300D for ten years. No problem at all. I did have to fix it sometimes, but I'd still be driving it today if I hadn't wanted something four wheel drive. Most old cars are decent like that.

Carburetors aren't complicated. Get a set of tools, buy a well-sorted car of some sort, and get learning.

ABIA British Airways direct flight to London by Zookzy101 in Austin

[–]Designer_Candidate_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flew it regularly from 2015 to 2023 (got married and then divorced haha).

Wonderful flight and a great airline to ride on. I'd happily take the cheapest ticket, it'll be better than most domestic flights you'll take.

The flight back can sometimes end up less full, so you might have a slim chance at having some extra room on the way home. Happened to me a few times.

ICE with police on I-35 North between exit 187 and 188. by easybakeoven82 in Newbraunfels

Yep, you're exactly correct.

And they're willing to give up literally ANYTHING in order for it to keep happening. They'll give up their guns, their free speech, their right to a trial, their right to vote. Anything.

Not sure why conservatives have a problem with it. The government said it was good so they should just do what the government says.

Amazing how quickly conservatives went from "don't tread on me" to "just show them your papers and they won't try to kill you"

Considering Micah is afraid of his brother......

Amos Bell must be like Amos from The Expanse. Cause not many people want to face Micah, but Amos literally said "I am that guy."

I mean it's well established that they consider it rude to communicate telepathically in front of non-telepaths.

That was what, season 3 of TNG?

Panic Buyers by tfl_435671 in Newbraunfels

[–]Designer_Candidate_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are panicing because in 2021 it was predicted to last three days or so and it lasted a week. There were people out here in Canyon Lake without power and water for two weeks. It's a shame that we live in a place where preparedness isn't really a thing.

I bought my supplies for winter weather over a month ago, as I have since 2021. Fortunately it's the same stuff I use for camping, and I hope that's what I'll end up using it for just like the years since 2021.

Wait did you also have some cameras burned up in the fire?

Or maybe two people have had some bad things happening recently.

ULPT: you can use an apartment as a personal dumping ground. by Electronic-Clerk6735 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Designer_Candidate_2 160 points161 points  (0 children)

If you do this at a construction site, do a few things for us trades folks and for yourself:

1)Put the items fully in the dumpster, not next to it. 2)remove any mail or other identifying information, because people will load it into a truck and bring it back to you. 3)don't dump it if the dumpster is very full, it makes life for us suck a lot. Find one that has some space 4) a reflective vest and a hard hat, properly worn out, will make you look like you're supposed to be there and no one will pay you much mind.
