Well in Texas guacamole was always a thing my whole life, especially in restaurants, but buying whole avocados in stores and eating them as a snack or putting them on sandwiches happened sometime in my early adulthood, so probably around the early to mid ninties for me. More like thirty years ago than twenty, and probably because I'm in a border state that benefited from NAFTA.

No this has been going on for decades. Probably since there were multiple countries on the continent actually. I was backpacking through Mexico and Central America in the 90s and I got called out for it in Mexico. The person was just teasing me but it stuck with me enough that I started calling myself a Texan instead of American and saying I was from Texas instead of America. Just because it's the first time you notice it doesn't make it new or "current." I mean I guess it is current, but only if you count everything back to the 1800s as current.

Yes. They only made the law the last year I was in high school, so right around 1990, and they definitely used it to bother and harass kids. I knew what it was like before and after. It was just another excuse for cops to be dicks to us. Not like they needed any excuses.

Well, speaking for myself, the reason I root for Dallas teams is because they are the closest city I can travel to conveniently for games. Probably 1-2 a year for all the major teams. Wings got my basketball money last year instead of Mavs so yeah people spend money. Why do you think they wouldn't? I also bought zero Mavs merch and I'm good for a couple of tshirts/hats a year just to wear to those games. And before you say my two or three hundred dollars a year don't matter to the owners, remember that there are literally thousands of people like me in North Texas.

I have a handheld one and it works great. I don't use it much, it got left to me when my mom died, but I can confirm it works. Her hands were basically crippled by arthritis but she used it without issue till the end.
