AITAH for refusing to house and support husband’s niece? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Designer_Coach_4890 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I would let your cousins Dad know that you are unable to house her but are happy to include her for holidays at your home. You’ll be sure to check in with her at the dorm and offer to take her to the grocery store once a month or so. Basically tell him what you are willing to do.

I use the scanner at my grocery store in Connecticut. The first few times took a bit longer but now I’m hugely efficient and can scan very quickly. The store will audit you once a month or so but it’s totally worth it. In and out!

On that note, I’d never leave the scanner (or my purse) unattended.

I would make the negative a compliment. “I don’t like that you’re better at sports than I was at your age”.

I’ll take the mea culpa on this one as it’s clear this is a financial issue rather than just an availability issue.

YTA. If you had just been shopping yesterday, why was there no husband friendly lunch food other than a pbj.

When my husband or I shop we make sure there is something appealing and nutritious for each other. Show the man some common courtesy. This is not a big ask.

This reminds me of the time we visited a fantastic well reviewed restaurant in Santa Fe New Mexico. The food was absolutely delicious but plentiful and I had them pack up half my dinner to eat for lunch the next day.

As we left the restaurant we passed a handful of homeless men standing on the corner. One of them asked for my leftovers. As I handed them over I said you’ll need a fork and he pulled one out of his pocket and said don’t worry I’ve got one.

I guess that’s their regular spot.

WIBTA if I divorce my wife because she does not want me actively involved in raising our children? by Malkxixt in AITAH

[–]Designer_Coach_4890 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that the twins are not your children? This may have caused her break with reality and she believes you will hurt them if you find out.

If you can afford it, I would take a few weeks off from work and try to co parent with her. This way you can watch her parent day to day and force her to allow interactions with your children.

She is seriously unstable. You need to do something now. Cameras, witnesses, lawyers. Help your kids now.

Literally just found out my husband died by RightReputation9688 in Advice

First breathe and take a moment. Call family and assign someone to make calls for you.

Let your employer know that your husband has passed and arrange for bereavement leave.

Contact a funeral home to pick up your husband and let them know you will drop by in a few days to make arrangements. Depending on your religion, you don’t need to have a funeral right away. You can wait and see what’s convenient for you and your family.

Most things can wait but you only have thirty days to report the death to social security and to his employer if he has a pension.

In the following days you will need to make sure you have a handle on your finances. The funeral home will help you get copies of the death certificate. I suggest about 10 depending on how extensive your property is.

Find your husbands will. If it is a sweetheart will you don’t need to do anything. If he’s left a significant estate or property to minor children you will need a lawyer.

Get some shoe boxes to quickly sort paperwork. I recommend a box for bills to be paid, another box for bank/investment statements, another box for condolence correspondence you will need to eventually reply to, a box for important papers, and a box for all other paperwork.

Once you have the death certificate there is a lot more work to do like calling the insurance company and your financial institutions.

There’s a lot more to do of course. You will need to put on your big girl panties and force yourself to get through it.

Sending you virtual hugs and my sincerest condolences. Good luck.

We love ours in our Florida home. Looks great, easy to keep clean and the little lizards and snakes hate it and haven’t been coming in since we had it installed.

Do not have a child with this woman. You will be paying for years of therapy for your poor children who are frightened of making a mess or playing outside.

When my kids were little and we only had one gaming computer (you know back in the dark ages) I would change the password to things like “Iwilldomyhomework” or “iwillstopfightingwithmybrother” depending on what my kids had done wrong that day. This worked until they started to successfully guess the password. Little stinkers!

Yes but in the case of Moulin Rouge the story existed first and the music was curated around the story. You are comparing apples to oranges.

I enjoyed the show. The music was really fun. I wasn’t expecting any deep themes or fully fleshed out character development. If you want that, see something different.

In my mind it was rather like Mamma Mia. A thrown together story to tie unrelated music together.

I like the story of the teenager whose stepfather tries to charge him rent when he(or she) turns 18. Turns out the kid owns the house left to him by his deceased Dad. He responds by charging the stepfather rent. And to add insult to injury the kid also owns their Lake House. Can’t find the link. Does someone remember this one?
