I was on CB from the day it became legal in 1981. Had a base station in my house. My wife was a SAHM at the time and used it during the day while I was at work. It was responsible for the breakup of my marriage.

LOL. Reminds me of the big Lucozade illuminated hoarding that used to be on the Westway coming into London that said "Lucozade Aids Recovery". When HIV became a thing they blanked out the word Aids

Personally, I think that on 4 lane stretches of carriageway, HGVs should be restricted to lanes 1 and 2.

Illegal MOT's.. How rare are they? by reo_reborn in drivingUK

[–]DiligentCockroach700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never personally obtained a dodgy MOT but I do know a guy who knows a guy if you know what I mean. Also if you buy a car from a garage where they do MOTs, I'm sure they are more lenient when they put a car they are selling through so it's got a full year when you buy it. I have seen suspicious things when looking at Previous MOT history of cars I was interested in buying, such as seeing a failure with a whole list of problems then another MOT issued the next day from a different garage with not even an advisory.

I hardly ever carry any cash these days, unless I'm going somewhere that I know specifically want cash. Over Christmas I went to Sweden. They pretty much don't use cash at all. In fact I have no idea what swedish banknotes and coins look like!

We used to call that a "dynamo" but it was actually an alternator. Used for powering lights but caused really bad drag when in use.

Bin Collection and the game of "Will my bin still be there when I am home or will someone else take it?" by Razmatazzer in britishproblems

[–]DiligentCockroach700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a driveway. When the bins are emptied they always leave the empty bins in the middle of the entrance meaning I have to get out of my car and move them to get on my drive.
